Environmental Planner

POWER Engineers’ Central Environmental Region is seeking an Environmental Planner in our Houston office to assist with environmental assessment and alternative routing, siting, planning, and permitting for large and small energy projects. We offer an opportunity to work remotely from within the greater metropolitan area of Houston.

The successful candidate will have demonstrated expertise in environmental planning, baseline and impacts analysis, State, Federal, and NEPA regulatory compliance, public involvement, and technical writing in one or more of the following areas: electric transmission lines, renewable power generation facilities, and/or gas pipelines.

Roles and Responsibilities

Responsibilities include assisting project team with work tasks and deliverables, complying with schedule and budget requirements, interfacing with internal Project Managers/Staff and clients, and supporting business development efforts. Other responsibilities include but may not be limited to:

· Supporting Project Manager/Team with conducting environmental assessment and alternative routing analysis studies for electric transmission lines and other energy related projects
· Supporting multiple projects at various stages, disciplines, and locations
· Assisting project teams for key clients
· Interfacing with internal and external Project Managers/Staff, clients, and sub-contractors
· Supporting coordination with federal, state, and local agencies for project planning and/or permitting
· Assisting with client coordination including project scope, budget, schedule, and forecasting
· Assisting with business development and proposal writing
· Ability to attend and participate in open house and public meeting environments
· Travel up to 25% of the time for project, client, and marketing meetings
· Assisting with environmental planning and analysis documents

Required Education/Experience

· BS degree in Environmental Planning, Environmental Science, or other Environmental or Land Use related degree
· Minimum Two (2) + years of experience with environmental planning for energy-related projects
· Skills in environmental planning and analysis, regulatory compliance, public involvement, and technical writing
· Strong communication skills to effectively communicate with project staff, and department management
· Interest in generation of business development leads, written proposals and presentations, and project work capture

Desired Education/Experience

· MS in Environmental Planning, Environmental Science, or a related degree
· Experience in one or more of the following areas will be a plus: electric transmission lines, substations, fiber optic lines, renewable power generation facilities, and/or natural gas pipelines
· Working knowledge and demonstrated experience in federal and state environmental policy and regulations is a plus
· Experience in proposal writing and presentations a plus

Salary DOE: The pay range for this position is $50K - $78K per year; however, base pay may be higher or lower depending on the candidate's job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This figure does not include additional compensation such as health benefits, vacation, 401k, etc.
