Responsibilities and Duties include but are not limited to:
  • Provide technical assistance, consultation, and troubleshooting in the environmental health on-site sewage disposal program, statewide.
  • Help to train and assist local health department environmentalists in the onsite sewage program.
  • Develop, compile, and present training to local health departments, on-site certified environmentalist, septic system installers, and to the general public.
  • Evaluates state environmental health inspection programs.
  • Develop, review, and update regulations.
  • Septic system component inspections and reviews.
  • Cluster system review and approvals.
The ideal candidate will have:
  • Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 24 hours or a minor in science courses
  • 3 Year's experience in Environmental Health Programs
  • Must hold a Registered Sanitarian (RS/REHS) credential
  • Fully certified in KY on-site disposal program
  • Must have a valid Driver's License, travel is required
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, crawl, and lift up to 60 pounds
  • Must be able to use various field and computer equipment, and work in all weather conditions

Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree with a minor or twenty-four (24) semester hours in environmental health, biological health or physical science.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Must have three years of professional regulatory experience or experience in health administration, health service occupation, milk/food laboratory quality control or milk/food industry.

Working Conditions
Incumbents working in this job title will require frequent traveling to conduct inspections.
Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
