Compass Oncology - the largest privately-owned Cancer Care and Research Facility in the Pacific Northwest - is looking for a Medical Oncology Scheduler with high level customer service skills. While having medical office experience is a good place to start, we are looking for individuals that have the heart for service, are eager to learn and grow with an organization who values service, excellence and respect.

Employment Type: Full-Time, 40 Hours M-F

Location: East Cancer Center (Portland, Oregon)

Salary Range: $17.85-$25.81 Per Hour

**Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including candidate experience and expertise as well as internal employee equity considerations.

Job Scope:

Under direct supervision, is responsible for scheduling patient appointments and tests in an efficient and timely manner. Answers all incoming calls and directs calls to appropriate personnel. Serves as a liaison between patient and medical staff. Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Schedules patient appointments in computer system in accordance with physician and/or office guidelines.
  • Cancels/reschedules patient appointments according to physician schedule changes; notifies appropriate clinic personnel.
  • Obtains and enters all authorization and correspondence relating to referrals in patients charts and computer.
  • Maintains physicians' schedule: on call, vacations, meetings, etc.
  • Answers incoming calls; assesses caller’s needs and directs to appropriate personnel.
  • Obtains and communicates messages in an accurate and timely manner.
  • May schedule outpatient appointments/testing and hospital admissions upon request.
  • May obtain necessary pre-certification as required.
  • Collects co-pays, deductible and other out of pocket amounts at time of visit
  • Maintains primary office scheduling book containing all physician meetings, satellite schedule, rounding and call coverage.
  • Provides patients with accurate and legible appointment cards. Documents' no shows in patient's chart for missed visits.
  • Follows up with patient to reschedule any missed appointments.
  • Arranges for patients to have financial counseling as needed.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of patient confidentiality to protect the patient and clinic/corporation.

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience/Training:

  • Minimum (0-3) years of office or customer service experience preferred.
  • Ability to multi-task based on changing priorities.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
  • Must have excellent communication skills, written and verbal.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Impeccable commitment to customer service.
