Job Description

AECOM is seeking an Entry Level Environmental Scientist to be based in San Diego, California, but may work across the Southern California geography.

AECOM is pleased to include you in a unique development opportunity, the Graduate Development Program (GDP). This program is designed to support your assimilation into the organization and assist with creating a foundation of knowledge for a successful career at AECOM. You will gain experience in your discipline through learning on the job and participate in development opportunities during the program, including access to AECOM's social media resources, group mentoring, and professional networking. The program also has learning activities that will be available to you, including webinars and on-line programs.

This position is expected to begin in July, 2023.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

+ Support the preparation of environmental planning and permitting documents such as technical reports, permit application packages, and mitigation and monitoring plans, conservation plans, and/or sections of CEQA and NEPA documents

+ Conduct research and field inspections and gather data relevant to document preparation

+ Help prepare project elements such as GIS mapping, written, and graphic deliverables

+ Support public and client meetings and assist in preparing meeting materials such as PowerPoint presentations and compiling meeting results such as minutes

Qualifications

Minimum:
+ Bachelor’s Degree in (Environmental Planning, Biology, Ecology, Environmental Science) or related field + None or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

+ Driver’s license

Preferred:
+ Knowledge of Google Earth

+ Knowledge of California resources and environmental laws and regulations

+ Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)

+ Strong Written and oral communication skills

+ Ability to create and maintain tracking spreadsheets and documents

+ Ability to work independently and as a part of a team, identifying what needs to be accomplished and regularly completing tasks

+ Familiarity with California Planning Law, CEQA, NEPA, federal regulatory and compliance guidelines

+ Familiarity with issues related to environmental permitting, wetland ecology, watershed planning, conservation planning, and/or natural resources planning

+ Offered rate of compensation (California locations only) will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $64,500 - $70,000
