AECOM
is seeking an Entry-Level Environmental Scientist to be based in our Conshohocken, PA office. This position will support our EHS/Air team within our Environment business line.

This position is expected to begin March/April 2023.

Job Overview:

The Entry-Level Environmental Scientist will support a variety of challenging projects, and will assist with gathering and analyzing environmental data in both the field and office.

The responsibilities of this position may include, but are not limited to:

  • Perform environmental Phase I and Phase II assessments (ESA’s) per ASTM and AAI standards to private and public sector clients.
  • Perform implementation activities for Phase I ESA’s, prepare safe work plans, conduct agency file reviews and prepare Phase I ESA reports for commercial, industrial and public sector clients.
  • Perform implementation activities for Phase II ESA’s including environmental field sampling (soil and groundwater), interpret laboratory results and prepare Phase II ESA reports for commercial, industrial and public sector clients.
  • Assist in preparation of environmental plans, permits and reporting in accordance with USEPA and State requirements.
  • This position requires the flexibility to serve as a cross-disciplinary resource to best serve the needs of AECOM.
  • Utilizes basic scientific principles, theories, practices and existing technologies to develop solutions for technical problems with limited scope.
  • Collects and enters data and applies technical principles and theories.
  • Interprets and records data, conducts analyses, compares findings to relevant studies and local, state and federal regulations to ensure compliance.

Qualifications


Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Biology, Chemistry, or related field of study.
  • Valid U.S. Driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional experience in environmental due diligence assessments; environmental compliance reviews, ACM, LBP and mold related to private (commercial, industrial, power, oil/gas, rail and manufacturing) and public sector clients is a plus.
  • Experience in environmental sampling and waste management is a plus.
  • A general understanding of USEPA and PA environmental regulations desired.
  • OSHA 40 hour HAZWOPER training desired.
  • Familiar with Applicable ASTM and AAI standards and environmental sampling.
  • General knowledge of USEPA Resource Recovery Conservation and Recovery Act, Emergency Planning and Community.
  • Right-to-Know Act, Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act, US DOT HM-181, PADEP Act 2, PA Residual Waste, Stormwater and Tank Systems is a plus.
  • Experience in environmental compliance is a plus.

Additional Information
  • Candidates must be able to learn and effectively use environmental and safety monitoring equipment. Must also be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Candidates must be able to work in the field, sometimes in inclement weather, walk long distances in rugged terrain.
  • Relocation assistance is not available for this position.
  • This position does not include sponsorship for United States work authorization.
  • Candidates may be asked to submit to a Motor Vehicle Record screening upon hire.
