Best Summer (Part-Time) Job ...

You will love this job. You will learn to sail on an amazing sailboat -- on Lake Michigan. You will earn approximately $25 per hour.

This is a very serious position -- fun but extremely responsible ... as sailing on Lake Michigan is inherently risky. Our job is to mitigate (minimize) risk.

YOU MUST BE 100% RELIABLE and available all weekends (and many weekdays) from late-May through September 30. Please do not apply if your summer schedule is not open ALL weekends (and, again, many weekdays) during June, July, August and September.

YOU MUST LOVE WORKING WITH THE PUBLIC -- as this job 90% regards taking care of passengers (safety is our highest priority) -- helping them aboard and off the vessel, bringing them drinks, helping them feel comfortable, and speaking with them during sails.

YOU MUST BE ATHLETIC. You may be male or female -- but must be strong enough to hoist (raise) sails on the boat, must be flexible enough to be able to move quickly (on and off the boat -- especially while docking). You must weigh at least 120 lbs. -- yet preferably more than 150 lbs. (to hoist sails). This is an extremely physical job.

YOU MUST BE ABLE TO MULTI-TASK (I.E., SMART). You will learn how to sail, attend to the Captain's commands, and attend to passengers' needs. This may sound easy -- it is not.

Generally, the deckhand position is extremely demanding -- extreme multi-tasking. You will learn how to sail -- but most of the job regards taking care of passengers -- serving drinks, making certain passengers are safe and comfortable. You must enjoy working with the public. You must be personable, friendly, observant, bright, quick-learner and very athletic. We will train non-sailors if we believe you have all the requisites necessary for this demanding job.

We require a RESUME AND DETAILED COVER LETTER explaining why you would like to sail aboard Red Witch -- and list in detail your schedule (days not available) from late-May through September 30. Again, we require 100% availability on Fridays (after 5 p.m.), Saturdays (all day) and Sundays (all day) -- from late-May through late-September. And we prefer much on-call availability during weekdays -- especially after 5:00 p.m.
