Mount Saint Charles Academy is a Catholic private school located in Woonsocket, RI and founded in the tradition of the Brothers of the Sacred Heart. Serving approximately 600 students in a 6-12 setting, the Academy prides itself on academic excellence while employing the mission that states all students are known, valued and treasured.We are currently seeking a full time English teacher to: - Nurture and model love and compassion in a Christian community- Plan, prepare and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences- Prepare students to engage in the AP exam as outlined by the College Board - Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities- Prepare classroom for class activities- Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment- Use relevant technology to support instruction- Observe and evaluate student's performance and development- Assign and score summative and formative assessments- Provide clear, actionable, and timely feedback on work- Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students- Maintain accurate and complete records of students' progress and development on the portal in a timely and efficient manner- Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures- Maintain discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of the school- Apply appropriate disciplinary measures where necessary- Perform certain pastoral duties including student support, counseling students with academic problems and providing student encouragement- Participate in extracurricular activities such as social activities, sporting activities, clubs and student organizations- Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues and parents regarding student progress and student needs- Keep updated with developments in subject area, teaching resources and methods and make relevant changes to instructional plans and activities- Give special attention to developing a spirit of openness, friendliness, and mutual support- Make it a point to be available to all students on a daily basis especially those who need additional help- Respect the dignity of the individual, be consistent and fair, and foster relationships of mutual trust and cooperation.- Communicate Christian values through the quality of his or her relationship with students as well as through the articulation of his or her personal values. The teacher is an adult model of Christian values.The scheduled work day is 7:30am 2:45pm.
