FEED MILL OPERATOR

FLSA Status: Full-Time/ Non-Exempt (Hourly)

Reports to: Feed Operations Supervisor

Summary: You will work extensively with our customers in ensuring they are provided the highest level of service. You must be customer focused, be hard working, and have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. You must also be experienced and comfortable with using a computer and have the ability to learn the system we use to make feed.

2nd Shift Hours: 4pm - 2am; Monday - Friday; Saturdays as needed

Requirements:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Operate all feed manufacturing equipment safely and efficiently
  • Adhere to Endeavor Ag & Energy’s quality assurance program regarding ingredient receiving, load-out, and bagging
  • Perform necessary sequencing, recording, and documenting of all feed manufactured during shift
  • Maintain accurate production and FDA records, entering data into Excel spreadsheet
  • Mix and prepare livestock feeds efficiently and in a manner that assures accuracy and high quality
  • Assist management with production scheduling, inventory planning and control for both ingredients and finished products
  • Must possess basic knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Determine proper routing and distribution for manufactured feeds to appropriate holding bins
  • Assist with equipment maintenance and repair as needed
  • Load and unload trucks in a safe and efficient manner
  • Provide excellent customer service and assist customers when needed
  • Adhere to all HACCP and FDA training requirements
  • Maintain and promote a strong safety culture and follow all safety policies, procedures, and regulations. Identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions
  • Effectively communicate with managers, co-workers, and customers
  • Perform general work around the facility and other duties as assigned

Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Feed mill experience preferred. Must be able to operate a forklift.

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job the employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; extreme cold and extreme heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
