  • Two years of experience in system support and problem resolution

  • OS Knowledge: Windows, macOS, iOS, Android


The School of Dentistry IT (SOD-IT) Team is a productive, innovative, and unique team that works closely with users to support clinical operations. We tap knowledge within our team, the School of Dentistry, the University, and elsewhere to bring forward innovative/creative ideas and deliver robust solutions. This role is an exciting opportunity to support technologies that directly impact patient care, education, research, and operational excellence. As the SOD-IT Support Specialist, you will troubleshoot issues related to the School of Dentistry’s clinical information systems and hardware. This position reports directly to the SOD-IT Director and will have significant visibility around the clinics.

  • The pay range for this position is $58,000-62,000 depending on experience and qualifications that the finalist brings to the position.
  • This position is expected to work onsite 80% of the time at a minimum. The position's office is in Moos Tower on the East Bank of the Twin Cities campus. Dentistry management retains the right to modify flexible work arrangement agreements on a temporary or permanent basis for any reason at any time.

General Support (80%)

  • Provide in-person hardware and software support on workstations throughout the School of Dentistry
  • Leverage multiple support channels (e.g., a remote session, phone, email, and in-person) to diagnose and rectify user problems
  • Generate actionable support tickets
  • Use standard operating procedures to escalate problems to internal and external teams appropriately
  • Connect with internal teams via Slack, email, and phone to provide single-call resolution

Documentation (10%)

  • Assist with developing support standards and procedures to improve processes, workflows, and compliance as needed
  • Draft communication templates

Professional Development (5%)

  • Actively participate in your professional development (e.g., attend a seminar, training session, or Dentistry hosted event)
