The Work You Will Do:

The Employment Security Representative (ESR) II is a professional position that provides specialized employment services to individuals needing employment assistance. You will be focused on placement services using Employ Florida (EF), job boards, local newspapers, and community resources. You will also be responsible for prioritizing work demands with a focus on customer satisfaction and ensuring quality referrals based on employer-defined skills sets and requirements. You will also provide employers job order services, updates, placement verification, follow-up, and hiring events and ensure that all services provided are adequately documented in EF and make certain career seekers and employers understand all services provided by CareerSource Polk.


You will work independently and be responsible for identifying and analyzing complex problems; developing, recommending, and implementing solutions to resolve problems; providing instructions; taking necessary actions in resolving problems; advising management of problems and/or policy concerns related to program and operational functions. You will be required to plan, organize, communicate, and coordinate work assignments, and work cooperatively with others.

Lakeland is a small-town city with big-city vibes between Orlando and Tampa, Florida. Lakeland is part of the Tampa Bay Area. Lakeland is the largest municipality within Polk County and is home to Polk State College. Lakeland also has the largest collection of buildings by Frank Lloyd Wright.

Pay:

$36,000.00 – $41,000.00


Your Specific Responsibilities:

  • Provide individualized and/or group counseling/case management services to customers in the One-Stop Center using standardized counseling techniques, which will assist customers in deciding vocational goals and employability plans for entrance into employment.
  • Interview and assess customers for job readiness through aptitudes, interests, personal characteristics, education, and work history. Provide various services, including intake and assessment, counseling, testing, job search assistance, referral, and placement.
  • Promote One-Stop Center services and programs throughout the community via telephone contact, job fairs and/or visits to employers, community organizations, and public and private agencies.
  • Determine eligibility for and/or participation in special programs and coordinate services and state and local agencies for job development and referrals.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of labor market exchange process, strong customer relation skills
  • Working knowledge/experience using Microsoft Office applications, includes. Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook.
  • Knowledge of principles and techniques of effective communication to provide excellent customer service.
  • Knowledge of the basic principles of counseling and case management
  • Ability to record and document the customer’s interaction in required systems
  • Ability to conduct an effective interview.
  • Ability to create, write and develop professional resumes.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in individual and group settings, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to work effectively independently and as a part of a team.
  • Ability to deal with the public in a tactful, courteous, and effective manner.
  • Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Ability to present/speak in front of groups or individuals.
  • Ability to promote and market CareerSource Polk resources.
  • Ability to utilize problem-solving techniques
  • Ability to work independently by planning, organizing, and coordinating work assignments.

Qualifications:

As a condition of pre-employment eligibility, a Level 2 security background screening is required, which consists of fingerprinting and a check of local, state, and national law enforcement records.


Minimum –

  • Successful completion of the Florida Certified Workforce Professional Tier 1 training within 12 months of hire.
  • Required to travel locally within the region and must furnish own transportation.
  • Duties and responsibilities of this position must be performed at the official worksite.

Preferred

A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and two years of professional employment security, counseling, or Career coaching.

  • Professional or non-professional experience in areas related to employment security; interviewing, counseling, job placement, aptitude testing, and assessments can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education.
  • Bi-lingual - Read, write, and speak English and Spanish.
