Job Summary
Performs emergency and non-emergency public safety dispatch; providing customer service; relaying updates for service to public safety personnel; entering information into databases; maintaining logs; receiving and disseminating information; monitoring alarm systems; maintaining arrest warrant information; entering officer complaints; and/or, performing other related activities. Essential Duties
Performs emergency and non-emergency public safety dispatch services, to include receiving and routing calls reporting critical and non-critical situations and incidences; questioning callers and soliciting information; and/or receiving and routing non-emergency telephone calls.
Monitors the status and location of all public safety units; relays updates for service to public safety personnel; dispatches appropriate units to specific calls; tracks calls and notifies appropriate individual(s) of situations requiring their attention.

Monitors alarm security systems, to include burglary, fire, and medical alarms, and relays updates to appropriate public safety personnel, if required.

Maintains logs, reports, and other documentation; uses online systems and databases to enter information on arrests warrants, officer complaints, driver licenses, traffic citations, registrations, and/or criminal histories; receives and disseminates information accordingly.

Performs a variety of routine clerical functions, which include: answering phones; taking and transmitting messages; faxing; filing; completing work logs; and/or performing other related activities.

Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.

Education and Experience
High School Diploma or GED; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
Telecommunications Officer License issued by TCOLE or the ability to become licensed within one year of hire date. The ability to achieve and maintain Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) security clearance. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Physical Requirements
Position typically requires: reaching, standing, walking, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.

Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Walking and standing are required only occasionally.
