The Mechatronics Engineer position at ConMet is responsible for development, upgrades, and troubleshooting of machines, embedded systems, and software tools that support component testing and product validation. This position has an emphasis on embedded and application software development, though it also requires an aptitude or understanding of mechanical and electrical systems, as well as strong problem-solving skills. The role provides internal support for ConMet’s Test Engineers and Technicians.

The Mechatronics Engineer is part of the ConMet Technical Center, which provides R&D, design verification, and product validation support for the development of new products. Our team of engineers and technicians maintain over 70 specialized pieces of test equipment and are continuously developing innovative new capabilities to provide our customers with cutting edge products that provide value without sacrificing performance.

This role requires working in an office environment (not hybrid or remote) at ConMet's Technical Center in Vancouver, Washington. Non-local candidates must be open to relocation (relocation assistance available).

• Develop, prototype, troubleshoot, and deploy firmware and hardware for low volume embedded devices including vehicle data acquisition systems, loggers, and wireless transmitters.
• Develop, troubleshoot, and maintain engineering systems and dashboards that monitor and record data from networked test equipment.
• Create, improve, and maintain machine control firmware or user interface software.

• Bachelor's degree in computer engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, or equivalent degree/experience.
• Proficiency with low-level and high-level programming languages.
• Proficiency with embedded hardware design, PCB design, and prototyping.
• Experience with C/C++ microcontroller programming, Python, LabVIEW preferred.
• Experience with full stack development including JavaScript, Python web frameworks, SQL, and Databases preferred.
• Familiarity with computer networks, TCP/IP, and communication protocols including OPC UA and Modbus TCP preferred.
• Familiarity with vehicle data acquisition systems and loggers preferred.

• Salary range - New hires generally start between $94,689 - $118,361. Placement based on qualifications and professional experience. Entire salary range ($94,689 - $ 142,000). Placement based on factors including qualifications, professional experience, and location.
