Primary Purpose
Participates in all phases of repair and maintenance of mechanical equipment (including sterilizers, washers, blanket warmers, disinfectors, surgical tables, and sonic washers), while serving as a work leader with regard to repair, maintenance, vendor coordination, documentation of service, project planning, and the RFP process.

Education:
  • Prefer degree in Biomedical Technology.


Experience:
  • Must have five years of experience in the maintenance and repair of surgical sterilization devices, washing devices, and/or warmers (i.e. industrial or commercial food industry).
  • Must have a minimum of two years of maintenance experience in a healthcare environment.


Equivalent Experience:
  • May have an equivalent combination of education and experience in lieu of specific education and/or experience as stated above.


Certification/Registration/Licensure:
  • Must have a Texas Class C Drivers License and be insurable.
  • Must have access to an automobile.


Skills or Special Abilities:
  • Must have an expert level understanding of commonly accepted practices used in repair of light and heavy industrial equipment.
  • Must be able to demonstrate an expert working knowledge of proper safety procedures.
  • Must possess an expert working knowledge of plumbing and electrical (including lighting and equipment) maintenance functions.
  • Must be able to demonstrate an expert working knowledge of the proper use of power and hand tools.
  • Must be able to teach repair and maintenance functions to other employees.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with department and Hospital personnel, both orally and in writing.
  • Must be able to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, drawings, and technical instruction manuals.
  • Must be able to prepare estimates for work required.
  • Must have basic computer skills.
  • Must be physically able to lift heavy loads, walk, stand for extended periods, and climb ladders.
