An Electrical Technician 2 is to ensure operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance on motors, pneumatics, conveyor systems, gear motors, gearboxes, pumps and production machines: following diagrams, operations manuals, manufacturer’s instructions and engineering specifications. Develop a working knowledge of spare parts inventory. Please be aware that this is a plant where recycled plastics and other recycled material is processed.

  • Under broad supervision, ensure product quality by providing maintenance support through the design, installation and maintenance of Plant Electronic systems.
  • Provide all required electronic system maintenance work, including work orders, preventive and predictive maintenance throughout the plant.
  • Experience with PLC, VFD drives, DC drives and motors.
  • Experience with troubleshooting electrical and electronic problems in both low and high voltage control circuits and motor control circuits.
  • Electrical/Mechanical Experience with pumps, motors, gearboxes, drive rollers, shafts required

Job Purpose: The Electrical Technician 2 to ensure the smooth operation of the machinery and mechanical equipment. Perform regular services, maintenance procedures, and troubleshooting equipment breakdowns. Repair or replace components as needed.

Main Tasks:

  • Performs preventative maintenance duties on the production equipment as needed to assure that down time is kept to a minimum.
  • Monitor, identify and respond promptly to signs of malfunction in machinery such as changes in performance
  • Perform repairs on various types of machinery, including mechanical, electric, pneumatic and hydraulic.
  • Identify and replace worn or damaged parts in a timely manner
  • Read and complete work orders concerning service, modification or installation of machinery
  • Use variety of power and hand tools to perform job functions
  • Maintain a schedule for inspection, service and testing of machinery
  • Observe and follow all company safety rules and regulations
  • Train and develop team members
  • Use MMS computer

Teamwork and Communication:

  • The Electrical Technician 2 will work with the Maintenance Lead, Manager, Machine Operators and Engineers to ensure the machines are performing at standards.

Job Complexity and Challenges:

Will encounter differing situations, and solving them requires the identification of the issue, the application of judgement and the selection of a solution from my expertise and acquired knowledge

Knowledge/Experience/Skills:

  • Excellent work history.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, overtime and call-ins will be required.
  • Internal Testing required: (Reading and Mechanical test) (High Pass required)
  • Additional Internal Testing: Must pass Electrical Test.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Good mechanical skills are required.
  • Computer skills preferred.
  • A two-year degree in Electrical/Electronic Technology or equivalent is preferred, or significant comparable experience is required.
  • Willing to work on electrical and mechanical issues. Will need to be able to work with mechanics daily.

Technical Reading and Using Resources: Being able to read and understand technical materials, such as training manuals and vender instructions; using materials to collect information necessary to troubleshoot and solve a problem.

Educational requirements: The Electrical Technician 2 must have a high school diploma or equivalent GED. Must have a two-year degree in Electrical/Electronic Technology or equivalent is preferred, or significant comparable experience is required.

Prior experience: The Electrical Technician 2 must have two years related experience.

Technical skills: The Electrical Technician 2 must have mechanical and computer skills. They must be technically inclined and be able to properly utilize tools and machinery.

  • Ability to work outside regular business hours as required.

Physical Requirements: The ability and willingness to perform light to moderate lifting of raw materials and machine components up to 55 lbs. The ability and willingness to stand 100% of time and walk in the production facility. Adequate hand and finger coordination to manipulate small parts. Adequate vision and color perception. Minor stooping, bending, sitting, reaching and crouching as needed to inspect finished product and materials.
