Electrical Superintendent

Looking for a high character, motivated individual with offshore experience able to work unsupervised, performing maintenance and troubleshooting on electrical power and control systems.

Must be flexible enough to handle day to day activities on an offshore platform, have knowledge of oilfield related process equipment and the safety systems implemented by API 14C for this equipment. Possess the ability to install basic electrical equipment such as lighting, receptacles, motors without detailed hookup drawings. Read and comprehend one line diagrams, wiring schematics and P&ID’s. Experience with the installation of switchgear, motor control centers, UPS systems, generators and transformers are a plus. Industrial experience in refineries, meter stations and compressor stations along side of the offshore experience will be preferred.

Candidate must be able to supervise small offshore crews for brownfield construction projects while upholding and implementing our safety standards.

SUMMARY
Responsible for installing, maintaining and repairing electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures. Ensures that work is in accordance with relevant codes; consistently completing work to meet customer specifications.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Assembles, installs, tests and maintains electrical and electronic wiring and cabling, equipment, appliances, apparatus and fixtures using hand tools and power tools.
  • Measures, cuts and assembles cable tray and cable support systems.
  • Plans new or modified installations in compliance to Oneline’s, Wiring drawings and schematics, knowledge of various electrical and distribution systems architectures and capabilities.
  • Diagnoses malfunctioning systems, apparatus and components using test equipment and hand tools to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.
  • Connects wires to circuit breakers, transformers, motors, PLC’s or other components.
  • Possesses basic understanding of both above grade and below grade conduit installations.
  • Inspects electrical systems, equipment and components to identify hazards, defects and the need for adjustment or repair and to ensure compliance with codes.
  • Advises management on whether continued operation of equipment could be hazardous.
  • Tests electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters and meggers to ensure compatibility and safety of system.
EXPERIENCE
  • At least 2 years of electrical experience in an industrial setting.
LICENCES/CERTIFICATIONS
  • Must be able to successfully complete all required training by PES.
