About our group:

Seagate Minnesota Campus (MNC) is seeking a professional electrical engineer to join the Plant Engineering staff in our high technology facility. This engineer will have the responsibility to develop solutions to engineering and complex maintenance concerns and manage these solutions through the application of professionally accepted engineering techniques, practices, and procedures. They will also manage other aspects of the site operations as required to ensure full support to the site’s customers. This role joins the MNC Facilities team of over 40 people and will support Seagate's Bloomington, MN operations – a 700,000 square foot and growing, highly technical facility, operating 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

About the role - you will:

As the Facilities PE Electrical Engineer, you will have responsibility to conceive and develop solutions to engineering problems through the application of professionally accepted engineering practices and procedures, but not limited to:


  • Directly develop facilities electrical plans for renovations, new construction projects, and equipment installation
  • Estimate design costs, labor, materials, and other related costs in facility electrical infrastructure planning
  • Provide engineering support to resolve interruption issues to building electrical infrastructure
  • Work with external vendors to develop and implement facilities electrical plans; oversee contractor work to ensure compliance to plans, budget, timeline, permit approval as required, and punch list completion
  • Project planning/estimating, system design, building code and safety compliance/inspection, problem solving, and report generation
  • Serve as the site Master Electrician
  • Develop criteria and performance specifications for electrical facilities and equipment to meet unique operating requirements and safety codes. Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions
  • Provide leadership in developing site VFD programs
  • Interface with state and local building officials
  • Provide technical interface with site electricians and maintenance management. Assist site electricians with troubleshooting of electrical issues
  • Interact with site teams and guide contractors to ensure complete scope development and efficient project completion
  • Work will entail scope both in and outside of clean semi-conductor type facilities

About you:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering with 8+ years of experience, or Master’s Degree and 5+ years of experience
  • PE in Minnesota for Electrical Engineering (or be willing to obtain the PE license in MN if you have PE license from another state)
  • Master Electrician License preferred or willingness to obtain Master Electrician license
  • Experience with facilities project management or design with respect to electrical services, energy management, mechanical utilities, building controls, hazardous material systems, and fire alarm or critical safety systems.
  • Thorough working knowledge of MN Electrical Code
  • Customer service focus and ability to translate customer needs and wants into an on-time and on-budget project
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio
  • Proficient in use of AutoCAD
  • Requires an effective written and oral communicator

Your experience includes:

  • Project management to include developing and maintaining project schedules (Gantt chart)
  • Writing Requests for Proposals (RFPs); reviewing and awarding bids
  • Strong understanding of semi-conductor, medical device, or electronics manufacturing facility requirements preferred
  • Experience with 8D, Six Sigma, or Lean Manufacturing
