Electrical Engineer: Facilities Design

Are you a registered electrical engineer with at least five (5) years of facilities design experience and looking for a growth opportunity? Are you interested in supervising staff, working directly with clients, and assisting us with growing our electrical design practice? If so, we have an opportunity for you. Engineered Systems & Services (ESS) is looking for an energetic and agile electrical PE that can grow with us in our Suwanee office. ESS provides design, program, and construction management services for a growing variety of clients in commercial, water/wastewater and Federal facilities markets.

The successful candidate must be willing to work full-time in our Suwanee, GA office which is approximately 35 minutes northeast of downtown Atlanta. A minimum of five (5) years of design engineering experience is required. Proficiencies should include design of systems for power distribution, emergency and standby power, lighting, fire alarm, data, communications, and security. Previous discipline management experience is helpful, but it is not required. This position requires acute attention to detail, adaptability, and strong organizational skills that will accommodate working simultaneously on multiple projects and tasks. Supervision of design staff is required as well.

Qualifications:

Education: Completion of a bachelor’s degree program in electrical engineering.

License: Registered as a professional engineer in the State of Georgia.

Experience: 5+ years of electrical design experience for commercial, industrial and/or water/wastewater facilities.

Availability: Full time (in office or on site); Monday – Friday; 8 hours daily.

Language: Speak and write English proficiently.

Mobility: GeorgiaDriver’s license

Required Skills:

· Electrical systems design with a comprehensive understanding of applicable codes including National Electrical, Life Safety, and Fire Alarm Codes.

· Capability to lead a multi-disciplined team of engineers and designers to execute project objectives.

· Proficient with Microsoft Office Applications: Excel, Word, and Outlook.

· Working knowledge of AutoCAD and/or Revit.

· Strong technical and organizational abilities.

· Ability to assist with training of junior electrical staff.

· Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

Major responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Development of Electrical Systems Design Documentation for evaluations, troubleshooting reports, design development reports, and detailed design submittals.
  • Construction Administration for projects under construction including reviewing construction submittals, responding to requests for information, and conducting periodic site visits.
  • Discipline Management Assistance, including development of electrical discipline budgets, conducting discipline quality assurance reviews, participating in interdisciplinary cross-checks, maintaining clear lines of communication with clients and project managers, and managing project time and labor expenses to meet schedule and budget requirements.

Additional requirements:

  • Passing alcohol and drug testing
  • Passing a background check
  • US citizenship or permanent legal resident status
  • Three character references, preferably from former or current employers

Compensation: $85,000 - $125,000, based upon credentials and experience. Eligible for performance bonus.
