TOWN OF THURMONT

ELECTRIC DEPARTMENT LINEMAN APPRENTICE

Scope of work – This position reports to the Lead Lineman and assists with emergency and routine repairs to high voltage electric service within the Town of Thurmont, after training objectives are achieved. This position is required to complete prescribed training after employment and is considered as an essential employee that must be available for after-hours emergencies.

Critical duties include:

• Assists with high voltage electric work on overhead lines and underground lines
• Installs and repairs street lights
• Installs and repairs utility poles, guy wires, and anchoring devices
• Performs monthly residential and commercial electric meter readings
• Performs various tasks using bucket trucks (i.e. installing Christmas decorations, hanging banners, etc.)
• Other duties as assigned

Additional Requirements:

• This position is on an alternating 24 hour on call schedule to respond to after-hours emergencies
• This position must become familiar with, and abide by all departmental and industry standard safety and operating procedures and guidelines
• CDL-B license is required or must be obtained within 6 months of employment
