Facilities Planner 1 - WSH Civil Center of Excellence (CCE)

Western State Hospital (WSH) Civil Center of Excellence is seeking a Facilities Planner 1 to join our team of hard-working professionals located in Lakewood, Washington. As a Facilities Planner, you'll perform vital job functions in direct support of hospital facility management, development and implementation of hospital facility expansion/renovation, and facility/physical plant accreditation standards/regulatory compliance.

You'll be responsible for providing expert advice and consultation with other agencies for hospital space planning and utilization, communications systems, facility infrastructure renovations and systems, and the overall Environment of Care within the patient care space at the hospital.

Some of what you'll do:

  • Review and approve facility work orders related to the physical plant/Environment of Care within patient space at the hospital
  • Assist and perform many different types of risk assessments by assigning and coordinating the completion of the Physical Risk Assessment Reports, Environment of Care Inspections, and Safety Inspection Reports for assigned wards on the hospital campus and active patient care areas
  • Submit and track work orders for found deficiencies
  • Complete audit reports, transactions, and various activity/functional reports
  • Develop, revise, implement, interpret, and administer program-specific policies, procedures, practices, and set standards for existing and new program activities impacting outside entities or members of the public
  • Subject Matter Expert within the institution to interpret policies and procedures related to life safety compliance, safety, and security
  • Provide program management for the planning, development, and implementation of the activities of support services
  • Plan, organize, coordinate, and oversee the day-to-day working relationships with business partners that lease facility space
  • Plan and participate with a work team that conducts physical moves on site
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate performance improvement processes that incorporate all aspects of support services
  • Serve as the hospital program liaison for construction-related activities
  • Liaison/bridge between architects, engineers, Capitol Programs, contractors, vendors, executive and clinical staff
  • Coordinate routine and emergency repairs
What we're looking for:
An associate’s degree in planning, architecture, or a related field and 4 years of professional planning experience. (The associate degree may be substituted with a Journeyman status in a related trade such as carpentry or electrician and 2 years of journeyman experience.)
OR
A bachelor's degree in planning, architecture, or a related field and 2 years of professional planning experience, or equivalent.
OR
A master's degree in planning, architecture, or a related field and one year of professional planning experience, or equivalent.

Desired:
  • Governmental facilities planning work, or a related field in private industry, which would afford familiarity with large-scale facilities development and utilization as found at the state level
  • Experience in planning policy analysis, coordination, and consultation with a variety of public and private agencies organizations, and/or levels of government
