Job summary

Provides transportation service to business as requested by picking up and transporting individuals or materials between locations.

Essential duties and responsibilities

Drives automobile to transport office personnel and visitors between locations.

Keeps transportation logs and service records as required

May perform miscellaneous errands such as carrying mail to and from the post office or transporting materials between locations.

May clean vehicle and make minor repairs or adjustments.

Trains and guides new or relief personnel in the driver duties and procedures, where appropriate.

Supervisory responsibilities

No formal supervisory responsibilities in this position.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

High School degree or equivalent preferred.

Verifiable good driving record. Previous commercial driving experience preferred.

CERTIFICATES and/or LICENSES

Valid driver's license of type/class required to comply with applicable regulations. May require certification to operate fork lift equipment.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS

Ability to comprehend and interpret instructions, short correspondence, and memos and ask clarifying questions to ensure understanding. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from clients, co-workers, and/or supervisor.

FINANCIAL KNOWLEDGE

Ability to perform simple arithmetic functions (add, subtract, multiply, divide) and calculate simple figures such as percentages.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to understand and carry out general instructions in standard situations. Ability to solve problems in standard situations. Requires basic analytical skills.

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES

Excellent driving skills. Good organization and time management skills. Ability to read and interpret road maps. May need to use GPS or other directional device.

May require ability to lift / carry heavy loads up to 50 lbs.

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY

Decisions made with general understanding of procedures and company policies to achieve set results and deadlines. Errors in judgment may cause short-term impact to co-workers and supervisor.
