POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for general maintenance and repair tasks for furnishings in cadet dormitories. Repair, issue, maintain, store, and deliver furnishings and appliances. Inspect, repair, and exchange as needed vacuums and miscellaneous furniture. Perform other tasks in support of effective cadet dormitory operations and maintenance. Reports to the Dormitory Facilities Manager.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Responsible for general maintenance and repair of furnishings in cadet dormitories.
  • Repair, issue, maintain, store, and deliver furnishings and appliances.
  • Inspect, repair, and exchange as needed vacuums, chairs and lamps.
  • Repair desks, side chairs, end tables, bed units, bookcases, desk lamps, bulletin boards, and furniture panels; replace shower curtains; replace light bulbs in all common areas; install room signs.
  • Assist with issue and receipt of room keys.
  • As required, clear and replace all furnishings from bedrooms and Squadron Assembly Rooms, including any needed disassembly and reassembly.
  • Ensure safe shop operation at all times, including maintaining required safety paperwork and using appropriate PPE.
  • Maintain general maintenance on electric stock chasers.
  • Safely operate stock chasers in the performance of assigned duties.
  • Identify work required and possible safety hazards in cadet rooms, hallways, restrooms, common areas, and other parts of the cadet dormitory buildings.
  • Receive, store and issue cadet supply items.
  • Remove and install window coverings.
  • Assist with boarding up broken windows and plunging clogged plumbing fixtures.
  • Assist with monitoring cadet area parking lots, as requested.
  • Conduct cleaning and housekeeping required in the performance of normal maintenance activities; alert supervisor of need for custodial services in cadet dormitories.
  • Provide logistical support and perform room inspections in support of Summer Programs and other special activities.
  • Unlock and secure buildings, especially over holiday periods.
  • Keep supervisor informed of work related problems.
  • Maintain logs and other records of actions taken.
  • Perform preventative maintenance, machine resets and repairs to washing machined and dryers in the cadet area and USAFA Prep School laundry facilities.
  • Perform other duties to directly support Cadet Support Service’s mission needs.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • Must possess and maintain a valid Colorado Driver’s License.
  • Able to receive and maintain a favorable Local Background Check (LBC) and National Agency Check (NAC) as applicable to position requirements.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with maintenance and repair of appliances, and/or electrical work.
