About the Role:

Reporting to the Director, DMPK, the Scientist I will serve as a representative on Oncology drug discovery project teams to deliver data and conclusions regarding NCEs from a DMPK perspective. This role will contribute to building a culture of scientific excellence, rigorous innovation, collaboration, and teamwork. This individual will have prior, hands-on DMPK and LC-MS/MS experience in the pharmaceutical industry and a track record of scientific achievement. This individual may directly or indirectly train or supervise staff and may manage the activities of CRO partners. This individual will have experience in designing, conducting, troubleshooting, and interpreting in vitro and in vivo DMPK assays and studies in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Perform, review, and report data from in vitro assays and in vivo studies to support drug discovery teams; assist in the design of and interpretation of results from in vitro/in vivo studies.
  • Report on the DMPK profiles of small molecule discovery compounds using data from solubility, metabolism, permeability, transporter interaction, pharmacokinetic, and other assays/studies.
  • Will be responsible for LC-MS/MS systems, including sample preparation, analytical method development, routine maintenance, data interpretation, and troubleshooting.
  • Identify new scientific assays and scientific technologies to enhance productivity and efficiency within the DMPK group.
  • Collaborate with project teams in identifying research approaches, hypotheses to be tested, and program milestones to produce candidate drugs with desired properties.
  • Contribute key findings for presentations to internal/external stakeholders at scientific meetings and conferences.
  • Manage DMPK data in a discovery chemistry database system.
  • Prepare and present key findings to internal team.
  • Manage outsourced studies.
  • Model SpringWorks Values and exemplify scientific excellence.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

About You: Required Education, Skills, and Experience

  • Ph.D. degree in a biology-, chemistry-, or pharmaceutical-related field and 2+ years' experience, Hands-on DMPK and LC-MS/MS experience in biotech/pharma; ideally, in a drug discovery/development setting or Master's degree in in a biology-, chemistry-, or pharmaceutical-related field 5+ years' experience Hands-on DMPK and LC-MS/MS experience in biotech/pharma; ideally, in a drug discovery/development setting.
  • Hands-on experience performing a selection of in vitro DMPK assays, some examples of which are: solubility (kinetic and thermodynamic), permeability (PAMPA, Caco-2, MDCK), metabolic stability (liver microsomes, hepatocytes), other CYP-related assays (inhibition, induction, reaction phenotyping), protein binding, and blood-to-plasma partitioning.
  • Awareness of principles, theories, and practices covering in vitro models (above), in vivo pharmacokinetic studies, and how in vitro and in vivo models relate.
  • Awareness of principles of liquid chromatography coupled to mass spectrometers with atmospheric pressure ionization sources.
  • Experienced in the use, routine maintenance, and troubleshooting of LC-MS/MS instrumentation.
  • Experienced in the interpretation, analysis, documentation of key findings.
  • Takes accountability for own professional development.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate technical data to cross-functional team members and program leaders.
  • This position is lab-based and will be required to be on-site 5 days a week.

The expected salary range for this position is $103,927.00 - $136,500.00. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance.
