Job Description

Reynolds is one of the largest community colleges in Virginia and serves Virginia’s capital city and five nearby counties. Annually, our four campus sites serve approximately 13,000 credit students and provide training for 7,400 students through the Community College Workforce Alliance. Reporting to the Dean, the Division Support Technician provides a variety of administrative and programmatic support to the School of Humanities and Social Sciences (HSS) on the Parham Road Campus. The duties of this position will include, but are not limited to; providing direct support to the Dean, Associate Dean, teaching faculty, and staff; performs routine changes in SIS related to staffing; assisting with the compliance to college requirements for all adjunct faculty hires for accurate submission to the Office of Human Resources; provide direct support to the Teacher Education efforts within HSS; and, other administrative duties to ensure the efficient operation of the office. This position will provide exceptional customer service at all times to a diverse population of students, faculty, staff, and other college customers.

Special Assignments

May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.



KSA's/Required Qualifications
Working knowledge of administrative and office support functions. Proficiency in computers and software (i.e., Microsoft Office Suite Software, Google Productivity Software, and student information systems) with the ability to learn new systems as a continuous expectation. Demonstrated ability to professionally interact with individuals with a wide range of interests and backgrounds, to include students and families, faculty and staff, and the general public. Ability to develop and maintain spreadsheets, databases; confidential documents and records. Demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple projects utilizing organizational skills and by exercising good judgment. Demonstrated ability to communicate, both orally and in writing, and work effectively with multi-cultural populations that support diversity, cultural understanding and inclusion. Ability to interpret and apply policies and procedures; and, work independently as well as within team settings.

Preferred Qualifications
Associate’s degree in an area of study offered by the School of Humanities and Social Sciences or an equivalent combination of training, coursework and experience related to Teacher Education is preferred. Experience working in a higher education setting, to include knowledge of college and division programs, college policies and procedures, and division operations is also preferred. Current and progressive experience working with PeopleSoft Student Information System (SIS) or a similar student information system is strongly preferred. Experience leading or directing the work of others is also preferred. Experience working with PK-12 in a public school setting, preferably in a licensed position.
