Kitchen Utility

Department/Division: Kitchen

Reports To: Executive Chef

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt (hourly)

Purpose for the Position:

To perform duties to maintain kitchen work areas, restaurant equipment, and utensils are kept in a clean and orderly condition.

Essential Responsibilities:

1. Washes work tables, walls, refrigerators, and meat blocks.

2. Separates and removes trash and garbage, and places it in designated containers.

3. Steam-cleans or hoses-out garbage cans.

4. Sorts bottles and breaks disposable ones in bottle-crushing machine.

5. Washes pots, pans, and trays by hand.

6. Scrapes food from dirty dishes and washes them by hand or places them in racks or on conveyor to dishwashing machine.

7. Polishes silver, using silver polish and hand cloth, chemical dip, buffing wheel, and hand cloth, if required.

8. Transfers supplies and equipment between storage and work areas by hand or by use of hand-truck.

9. Sets up banquet tables, when required.

10. Washes and peels vegetables using knife or peeling machine, when required.

11. Sweeps and mops floor once every hour as needed.

12. Runs glasses through dish machine twice.

13. Understands OSHA regulations.

14. When handling chemicals, always wears safety glasses.

15. Puts away and rotates stock.

16. Puts away all clean utensils and stock in designated areas.

17. Maintains personal hygiene.

18. Communication between co-workers and management team required.

19. Reports to work for scheduled shift, on time and in uniform in accordance with company policy.

20. Knows and complies with all company policies and procedures pertaining to this position and its duties.

21. Takes the initiative to greet members in a friendly and courteous manner.

22. Performs other related duties as required.

Educational and Qualifications:

High School Diploma/GED

One year kitchen or restaurant experience

Skills and Abilities:

¨ Use hands to lift, carry, or pull objects that may be heavy.

¨ Understand simple instructions.

¨ Learn simple procedures and techniques.

¨ Perform routine work or the same task over and over again.

Physical Demands:

Ability to exert up to 20-50 pounds of force occasionally

Ability to frequently lift 10-50 lbs., carry, push, or pull, or otherwise move objects

Ability to frequently stand for brief periods of time

Ability to walk, stoop, bend and reach above head frequently

Ability to work with cleaning chemicals and supplies

Environmental Conditions:

Inside: Protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $14.00 per hour
