Position Overview

The Director, Technical Production is responsible for directing, mentoring, and managing Associate Directors, Technical Directors, and Systems Engineers. This position helps determine and assign technical resources necessary to capture new business and/or execute definite business. The Dir, Technical Production will implement key business strategies for Technical Production at Encore. These strategies will ensure best in class technical production, drive operational consistency, optimize deployment of key production resources, and develop team members. The Dir, Technical Production will report directly to the Senior Director, Project Management.

The person in this position is preferred to be in Orlando, Washington DC, Dallas or Las Vegas.

Key Job Responsibilities

Organizational Leadership

  • Lead the Technical Production team toward ensuring all events are properly scoped, managed, and executed to the highest levels of production efficiency, financial success, and customer experience.
  • Provide consultation and guidance to Technical Directors, Engineers, Producers, PMs, and Sales Managers.
  • Partner with production leadership in market demand planning.
  • Ensure compliance with established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Technical Standards and Production Process.
  • Consult with the product management and warehouse teams to identify and successfully deploy new product solutions.
  • Facilitate adoption of new technology, local training & deployment of resources.
  • Partner with production leadership to design and implement KPIs for technical production.
  • Support, sponsor and execute all company initiatives.
  • Communicate goals and objectives to team members clearly and frequently.
  • Lead by example in portraying a polished, professional image in accordance with the standards set forth in the encore team member guidebook.


Technical Production

  • Responsible for leading a team of Technical Directors and System Engineers throughout the event life cycle.
  • Direct teams to ensure proper technical requirements and execution across all of Encore.
  • Lead design and deployment of best-in-class production systems that maximize operational efficiency and align with Encore’s customer’s needs.
  • Required to be knowledgeable in all new and existing Encore equipment and services to successfully leverage event experiences and suggest creative and value-added technology and/or develop innovative solutions for each client.


Sales Consultation

  • Develop and mentor Team Leads/Technical Directors/System Engineers to assist with technical design and requirements of large events.
  • Partner with Sales Leadership and Producers to understand and evaluate Technical Director and System Engineer requirements of future business needs from a broad market perspective.
  • Assist sales teams with technical consultation as necessary.


Resource Allocation

  • Assign and schedule team members ensuring that the appropriate talent is leveraged against the required task.
  • Ensure assignments provide team members with opportunities for growth and development.
  • Facilitate team members' efficient utilization and prescribing of technical resources by prioritizing internal equipment and minimizing sub-rental costs.


Customer Experience

  • Ensures consistent execution for a cohesive customer journey throughout Encore’s network.
  • Proactively supports collaboration with the Encore Venue, Logistics, Workforce, Specialty Services, and Purchasing departments.
  • Direct and manage the technical production team members in the successful execution of all events, constantly working to establish and maintain the highest levels of client satisfaction on behalf of the company.


People Development

  • Increase operational effectiveness by communicating Encore Core values, strategies, and objectives to team members.
  • Monitor and improve the team’s efficiency and productivity using standards and KPI’s as determined by senior leadership.
  • Establish clear expectations regarding responsibilities, behaviors, and daily activities.
  • Provide training and development opportunities for team members and ensure a safe work environment consistent with company values.
  • Provide continuous feedback to direct reports and conduct annual reviews.
  • Partner with HR business partners to manage human resources activity including selection, performance management, salary administration, training and development and strategic human resources planning.


Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
  • 10+ years of project management experience
  • 5+ years of people leadership experience
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Positive approach to teamwork, sales and problem solving
  • Strong Client relationship skills
  • Works well under pressure
  • MS Office experience required
  • Formal technical training desirable
