Reporting to Sparta Systems’ VP of Partnerships & Initiatives, to drive Sparta’s growth, long-term profitability, and value as a business. This role will provide expertise to develop Sparta’s growth strategy, contribute to the identification and review of corporate development opportunities aligned with Sparta’s inorganic growth strategy. This role will also be responsible for partnering across the organization to develop and drive execution of Sparta’s strategic initiatives, the identification, development and management of corporate level strategic alliances and partnerships. The ideal candidate will have a background in strategic partnerships (ideally in Life Sciences), with experience in the enterprise software industry.
Key responsibilities include:
Strategy Development:
  • Support the development and execution of Sparta’s strategy, enabling accelerated growth using multiple tactics, including but not limited to the use of strategic partnerships and alliances, mergers and acquisitions, and expansion into adjacent domains and/or product capabilities.
  • Develop a market view of the company’s products and technology based on a detailed understanding of industry, customer, and competitor trends, demands, developments, and predictions.
  • Oversee development of compelling market value propositions for the company that differentiate Sparta relative to our competition.
  • Leverage critical market or customer information to make appropriate investment recommendations that ensure achievement of the company’s strategic objectives; identify and qualify attractive market segments and/or adjacencies to invest for growth.
  • Organize, create and present ideas and recommendations in an effective, concise way, to all levels of management on pipelines of opportunities, recommendations for investment, and status of in-progress opportunities.
  • Support the competitive intelligence strategy; work with marketing, sales, product, partners, industry analysts, and all key stakeholders to understand Sparta’s place in the market and our competitive edge.
  • Generate strategic and actionable competitive intelligence insights aligned with Sparta’s strategic goals and objectives.
  • Deliver findings in compelling, relevant and timely presentations that enable stakeholders to leverage insights in ways that measurably improve business and revenue results.

Strategic Alliances & Partnerships:
  • Part of a team of business development executives focused on critical business relationships with key strategic, sales, and implementation partners.
  • Build, establish, and maintain superior relationships with Sparta’s most strategic partners, to develop and scale such partnerships to drive incremental revenue, expand our footprint, and capture new client logos.
  • Develop successful and collaborative cross-functional relationships with Sales, Product Management, Professional Services and R&D on strategic technology strategies and enablement, and Marketing to ensure consistent co-marketing and operational success.
  • Define joint partner go-to-market programs to drive increased engagement between partner and Sparta sales and product teams.
  • Develop short and long-range strategic plans, goals and programs for each of our strategic partners, with a focus on revenue growth and business value.
  • Develop go-to-market strategies and support processes that meet the strategic objectives of all parties involved.
  • Implement best practices for partnership identification, onboarding, enablement, support, and nurturing.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Prior experience at one or more of Sparta’s Strategic Partners, (e.g. Salesforce, AWS) and/or Global System Integrators (e.g. Deloitte, Accenture, TCS, Wipro etc.) in their technology division, deploying enterprise wide solutions.
  • 8+ years of experience in strategic partnerships and business development, ideally in Life Sciences and/or Enterprise software.
  • Has a well-developed network of executive level relationships in the technology and/or life sciences industry, as well as with industry analysts and other influencers in technology and corporate development.
  • Experience supporting Mergers & Acquisitions in the technology space, inclusive of target identification through due diligence, closing and post-closing integration.
  • Ability to manage influence through persuasion, negotiation, and consensus building across all levels, internally and externally (“no jerks”).
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically about complex issues, leading to thoughtful recommendations and action plans; able to synthesize complex concepts and present information in a compelling manner.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written, to communicate effectively at all levels of an Organization- Executive, Technical, Staff level
  • Ability to work with a sense of urgency in a competitive, fast-paced, ever-changing environment.
  • Demonstrated comfort and willingness to move from strategic to tactical as needed, rolling up sleeves and getting hands dirty to achieve business goals.
  • Strong analytical skills (including financial modeling) and affinity for process rigor.
  • Excellent execution skills, with ability to multitask and prioritize competing demands.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required; MBA preferred.
