Job Description

The Opportunity

Lead the work to ensure KIPP Texas continues to be the destination for new teachers to thrive, grow, and launch into a lifelong career in teaching.

  • Improve overall statewide teacher retention;
  • Expansion of the Teacher Incentive Allotment to include 90% of KIPP Texas teachers;
  • Support KIPP Texas being the employer of choice for those pursuing a life long career in education
  • Support new to KIPP and new to teaching teachers in their development

Goals of the role

  • Year 1 teachers retained at higher year over year rate than prior school year
  • Expansion of the Teacher Incentive Allotment to include 90% of KIPP Texas teachers;
  • Expand teacher opportunities for growth and development, particularly focusing on new to teaching and new to KIPP teachers

Role Responsibilities

  • Design professional development for new teachers to ensure new to teaching and new to KIPP teachers are adequately developed.
  • Partner with School Leaders, APs, and other campus leaders to support new to teaching and new to KIPP teachers
  • Liaise with school leaders, keeping them informed of the progress of their new teachers
  • Support KIPP Texas in the pursuit of TEA Teacher Incentive Allotment expansion applications and subsequent management of our TIA programs
  • Lead and facilitate decision-making for the Teacher Career Pathway and Teacher Incentive Allotment in partnership with internal Steering Committee members (with key stakeholders from Finance, Compliance, Human Resources, Academics, Analytics team members)
  • Design professional development and other development opportunities around the Rubric for Equity & Excellence, our statewide instructional rubric
  • Manage others to continued excellent outcomes

Qualifications

  • School leadership and management experience preferred
  • Experience setting vision and direction for a school or department
  • Experience having been an excellent teacher coach
  • Knowledge of teacher development and supports, current educational trends, methods, research, and technology, professional development design, and program planning and implementation
  • Knowledge of new teacher development and supports, current educational trends, methods, research, and technology, professional development design, and program planning and implementation
  • A commitment to promoting equity through the identification and removal of barriers, facilitation of learning, cultivation of community, and empowerment of people
  • Experience leading engaging and effective professional development for adults
  • Strong communication skills and follow-through
  • Demonstrated initiative in prioritizing amidst complex needs and strategically planning to get results
  • Flexibility and ability to multi-task within an ambiguous, fast-moving, entrepreneurial environment while also driving toward clarity and solutions
