Directs operations of the College of Communication, Architecture + The Arts (CARTA), including but not limited to, marketing; public relations; signature events; facilities; information technology; and data analysis. Serves as the Dean's senior advisor.

  • Directs day-to-day operations of the College of Communication, Architecture + The Arts (CARTA). Works with the Dean and the Executive Assistant to prioritize events and daily operations for the Office of the Dean.
  • Serves as the Dean's senior advisor. Provides the Associate Deans and senior management with recommendations to determine the College's short and long term performance objectives and metrics. Researches and identifies important issues by gathering appropriate data, investigating situations and/or analyzing activities associated with college. Works with the Dean and leadership team to develop policy recommendation and further action by the Dean.
  • Directs all CARTA facilities to ensure compliance for accreditation requirements, life-safety, and instruction. Serves as liaison to manage and provide technical oversight for the college's facilities. Works with University Facilities Management to ensure all maintenance, repairs, and other requests are completed in a timely manner.
  • Develops and administers the annual facilities budgets controlling expenditures and reallocating resources to maximize use of resources to meet the current and future needs of CARTA physical facilities. Manages the budget oversight of capital replacement and renewal projects, project prioritization, and proactive management of preventative maintenance processes.
  • Provides recommendations regarding budget allocations and conducting cost-saving analyses.
  • Oversees CARTA's communications (public relations, advertising, and marketing) functions. Serves as CARTA's representative and liaison with the Division of Strategic Communications, Government and External relations. Oversees Specials Events, Marketing, and Web Management personnel within the College. Collaborates with the Dean on the Annual Communication Plan.
  • Assists the Dean with resource generation activities and interfacing with major stakeholders including major donors, alumni leaders, and representatives of funding agencies and foundations and the peer community among Colleges of Communication, Architecture + The Arts elsewhere in academe, nationally and internationally.
  • Manages CARTA's data analysis functions in collaboration with the Office of Analysis and Information Management (AIM) to improve the College's performance metrics.
  • Supervises and coaches professional and/or support staff within the Office of the Dean, establishes goals, identifies professional development opportunities, evaluates performance, and provides recommendations to the Dean. Ensures that the staff are compliant with University policies and procedures.
  • Oversees CARTA's asset inventory and serves as accountable officer in University system of record.
  • Represents the Dean at meetings, as needed.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or as directed. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in business, education or related field and eight (8) years of related work experience, or Master's degree in business, education or related field and six (6) years of related work experience.
