The Hydaker Wheatlake Company is seeking an Director of Electrical Substation Operations.

The basic function of the Director of Electrical Substation Operations is to be a leader, administrator and coordinator, providing the necessary planning, organization, direction, safety, and control to meet the operational and strategic goals of The Hydaker-Wheatlake Company.

The Director of Electrical Substation Operations shall provide the necessary direction to ensure proper operations of gas work groups, considering short- and long-term goals and objectives as well as overall performance and business development aspects.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The principal duties and responsibilities of the Director consist of, but are not limited to, the following:

  • To ensure that all legal and regulated obligations for the company, from a contractual, safety, operational, and administrative perspective are met, and to act as needed to ensure that the actions of these employees meet all federal, state and local laws and regulations.
  • To guarantee the continued growth and success by ensuring that all employees meet or exceed established guidelines for standards of performance.
  • To establish an effective business development program, including implementation of sales and marketing techniques. This program will focus on creating an annual increase of sales by developing new services and/or products, new customers or by expanding the present customer base.
  • To be responsible for the successful performance of key supervisory personnel reporting to this position, including hiring, firing, promoting, demoting and disciplining these key supervisors and directing, or approving, these key supervisors to do the same with their subordinates. Any key department changes are to be presented in writing to the President for approval.
  • To ensure that an adequate inventory of materials, parts, and office supplies, etc., is maintained while staying within budget guidelines and restrictions.
  • To ensure that personnel have an effective working relationship that will provide the necessary checks and balances to identify any discrepancies in overall company operations or communications.

REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION:

Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Business Administration or equivalent experience; with extensive managerial experience in utility operations or in the Substation Contracting industry.

Required: High School Graduate with not less than ten (10) years operational experience.


EXPERIENCE:

Preferred: 15 years of experience for a company with similar products and services in a supervisory position.

Required: 10 years of experience in a supervisory position for a company with similar services.


SKILLS:
Must have the ability to manage all aspects of assigned construction projects. Must have a knowledge of and ability to read and interpret blueprint drawings, specifications, and system documentation. Must possess leadership skills and the ability to work closely with diverse groups of people, including company employees at all levels, area contractors, owners, suppliers and other outside professionals with whom the company deals with on a regular basis. In addition, must be able to work with and lead people, negotiate, speak publicly, analyze problems and translate company goals into actions necessary to achieve the goals. Computer literacy in Microsoft Office products and MS Projects for scheduling are required.
