Handles the communication needs of the organization and tells the Boys Ranch story through visual and written communication. Responsible for managing the Marketing and Communications team in production of websites, digital media and print publications to communicate with donors and other stakeholders. Responsible for design and implementation of an annual public relations and media plan to extend the organizational brand.

Essential Duties:

1. Is responsible for overseeing the communication needs of the organization in order to tell the Boys Ranch story through visual and written communication.

2. Responsible for the design and implementation of an annual public relations and media plan to extend the organizational brand, in support of the overall organizational fundraising and program awareness goals.

3. Collaborates with the Direct Marketing and Donor Development departments to manage story identification for fundraising purposes. Leads the development of stories for direct marketing and other fundraising activities to include coordination with external vendors/copywriters, program staff and senior leadership.

4. Serves as the editor of The Roundupnewsletter, the organization’s annual report, and the organizational website, to include, developing themes, story identification and placement, writing articles, and photography coordination.

5. Manages photography and videography needs for the organization. Coordinates internal resources and manages outsourced photography needs.

6. Manages Social Media channels, including, content development marketing and communication.

7. Prepares for approval and disseminates regular press releases in support of the organization’s public relations plan.

8. In conjunction with fundraising leadership team proposes advertising opportunities to support fundraising activities and other organizational goals.

9. Collaborates with the Direct Marketing and Donor Development departments in fundraising event planning to include the annual Boys Ranch Rodeo.

Job Specifications:

1. Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in Communications or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience required.

2. A minimum of 5-7 years’ experience in communications, preferably in a not-for-profit environment, is required or 3 years employment within the Cal Farley organization.

3. Exceptional writing and media generation skills are required.

4. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to develop positive relationships with staff, residents, donors and stake holders.

5. Proficiency in Adobe applications and Microsoft Office for Windows applications (word processing, database, spreadsheet, e-mail, presentation graphics, etc.) is required.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
