SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Sys Dir HR Strategy Employee and Labor Relations, the Dir Labor Relations is responsible for the administration and advisement of collective bargaining agreements, contract administrator responsible for CBA language application/interpretation, and assists with collective bargaining negotiations and arbitrations. Responds to ADO's, grievances, requests for information and maintains operational professional relationships with the Unions. This position is a key and trusted adviser for labor strategies, union avoidance, and keeping abreast of best practices and key trends and legal updates in the labor relations area.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor's Degree in Business or Human Resources required, J.D. degree from an accredited law school or LLM preferred.

Minimum 5 years of experience negotiating labor contracts for large employers, preferably healthcare.

Minimum 5 years demonstrated employee relations management for a large employer, preferably healthcare.

Experience handling labor relations and union avoidance.

Excellent judgment and the ability to analyze problems, propose solutions, and provide strategic advice considering the organization's defined goals.

Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills, including proficient technology skills (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).

Demonstrated ability to multi-task, manage varied caseload, and work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

Demonstrated leadership skills with a philosophy of creating a high-trust culture.

Demonstrated current knowledge of federal and state labor and employment law.

ORGANIZATION

Reports to: Sys Dir Strategy Employee and Labor Relations; will also receive day-to-day assignments and direction from the Chief Human Resources Officer. Will work collaboratively with the Human Resources Directors and Business Partners.

SPECIFIC DUTIES

1. Supports the Mission of Munson Healthcare.

2. Embraces and supports Munson's True North.

3. Leads the bargaining team in contract negotiations and contract implementation matters.

4. Provides strategic advice regarding contract compliance and application, and identification of labor patterns and trends demonstrated through labor relations scorecard.

5. Key and trusted advisor for labor strategies, union avoidance strategies, best practices, key industry trends, and legal updates.

6. Advises and assists in the system administration of collective bargaining agreements, contract interpretation, and grievance process.

7. Serves on Labor Relations Strategic Committee and represents MHC at Labor Relations Meetings and special conferences.

8. In partnership with Sys Dir Strategy Employee and Labor Relations and Legal assists with coordinating labor arbitrations and labor organizing campaigns, Unfair Labor Practices, and other matters before the National Labor Relations Board.

9. Develops responses to all system ADO's, Grievances and Request for Information for the System.

10. Identifies system labor relations training needs. Assists in the design of training and ensures training is delivered effectively to target audiences.

11. Manages union avoidance strategies and/or responses to organization campaigns.

12. Develops and implements a standardized approach to handling all levels of labor relations issues.

13. Assists in drafting policies, and ADO and grievance resolutions. Understands and communicates legal issues affecting the operations of Munson to Sys Dir Strategy Employee and Labor Relations and the CHRO.

14. Maintains a working knowledge of applicable labor relations laws and NLRB decisions and union activity along with Federal, State and local laws and regulations, the Munson Compliance Program, Code of Ethics, Conflicts of Interest, as well as other policies and procedures.

15. Represents Munson and its values in the several communities it serves and in the greater healthcare community by demonstrated personal and professional behavior at an exemplary level.

16. Performs all functions and activities with the highest level of professionalism, confidentiality, and tact.

17. Performs responsibilities efficiently under pressure and diligently attempts to comply with short deadlines, as required.

18. Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
