Description

  • Provide direction for the operational, financial and personnel activities of the assigned department; review and approve departmental budgets; review and approve departmental operating policies/procedures; and approve the recruitment, hire and placement of departmental staff.
  • Collaborate with departments to ensure the timely dissemination of the organization’s messages in efforts targeted to the non-English speaking community in ways that would enhance communication with the general public via the creation of support and targeted materials including speeches, publications, and web presence.
  • Negotiate contracts for language services to assure compliance with district and grant requirements.
  • Establish priorities, standards, and measurement tools for determining employee progress in meeting goals.
  • Manage staff responsible for producing and or translating content for district’s communication sites
  • Review and analyze data to improve services, and prepare reports as required.
  • Assist with the research and edit of special pieces for administrators and board of education.
  • Oversee the creation and facilitation of an interpreter training module to support the ongoing needs of campus employees.
  • Makes every effort to maintain effective collaboration with language communities, refugee and immigrant, special interest groups, governmental entities, and other school districts in Texas.
  • Represent Translations Services on the District Emergency and Crisis Team.
Qualifications
  • Required Bachelor's Degree from accredited university.
  • Required 5+ years of experience with 3 years of supervisory experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage in a supervisory position.
  • Excellent writing, verbal and communication skills in English/Spanish.
  • Ability to interpret policy, procedures, and data.
  • Experience developing and managing budgets.
  • Experience with grant writing and management.
  • Experience hiring, training, developing, supervising and appraising personnel.
  • Experience with project management to ensure efficient workflow of deliverables.
  • Knowledge of components of a communications plan and familiarity with social media platforms.
  • Ability to multi-task in a time sensitive and deadline driven environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively present information and respond to inquiries from district personnel, government officials, parents, and the general public.
