The Deputy Director of Child Health will be responsible for supporting the coordination of DPH’s Child Health Programs including Health Check, Maternal, Infant, and Early Childhood Home Visiting (MIECHV), Healthy Start, Babies Can’t Wait, Children’s Medical Services, and Children 1st. The Deputy Director of CH will also be responsible for the leading the ongoing implementation of the Newborn Screening Program, Health Check Program, Early Hearing Detection and Intervention Program, and Children 1st Program.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provides support for the coordination of the Child Health Programs for the Department including Maternal, Infant, and Early Childhood Home Visiting (MIECHV), Healthy Start, Babies Can’t Wait, and CMS Children’s Medical Services.
• Provides leadership, coordination, and ongoing implementation of the Health Check Program, Newborn Screening Program, Early Hearing Detection and Intervention Program, and Children 1st Program.
• Provides expert guidance, technical assistance, training, and mentorship to Child Health staff.
• Responsible for efficient management of state and federal funding allocations, grants, and contracts.
• Responsible for assuring compliance with state and federal requirements and guidelines through ongoing evaluation, oversight, and reporting.
• Provides ongoing coordination and monitoring to assure program timelines, reports, contract requirements are completed as required.
• Provides leadership for grant applications and needs assessments as required.
• Responsible for effective collaboration between Child Health programs and other DPH Programs, public health districts, agencies, and partners.
• Responsible for supervision of staff.
