DINING ROOM COORDINATOR, FULL-TIME
For over 30 years, North Hill, a not-for-profit senior living community located in Needham, Massachusetts, has provided vibrant living opportunities to people 65+ by offering a host of hospitality, wellness and health care services.
HOURS: 5 days/week, 12:30p to 8:30p. Weekend shifts required.
JOB SPECIFIC DUTIES:
  • Supports and coordinates dining activities in the various venues across campus
  • Ensures adequate staffing is in place for all dining rooms as needed
  • Supervises meal periods in the various venues, ensuring customer service meets expectations
  • Remains flexible in own scheduling to support the needs of the department
  • Ensures that Team Members maintain dining rooms in neat sanitary condition following policies and procedures and serve safe principles
  • Assists in the training assignments and ongoing supervision of the wait- staff and hosts
  • Addresses performance issues with Team Members in a timely manner following policies and procedures
  • Attend pre-meal huddle with the Chefs and team, and assigns team members for specific dining room coverage and any side work that requires attention
  • Holds wait staff accountable for assigned work and checking all side work at the beginning and end of shift
  • Meets with the Dining Manager weekly on scheduling and any other items that need to be addressed
  • Communicates with the Dining Manager daily on any issues prior to service
  • Supports new wait staff to enable them to learn their job
  • Remains aware through meal period of the needs of the wait staff and residents and offers support as needed
  • Schedules Team Members in Dining Venues.
  • Communicates, promotes and enforces policies and procedures of North Hill
  • Completes required training in a timely manner
  • Adapts schedule when necessary to accommodate emergency situations, such as snow storms, DPH surveys, state of emergency and other unforeseen circumstances
  • Is available to learn and grow in the role through identifying opportunities and taking advantage of education and direction from leaders
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • High school diploma
  • 1-3 years’ experience in the dining field, or any similar combination of education and experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Culinary Science, Hospitality or a related field and 3-5 years’ experience in healthcare or continuous care retirement communities preferred
