ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF DIETARY AIDES:

• Aide all food functions as directed/instructed and in accordance with established food policies and procedures.
• Review, prepare & serve meals in accordance with planned menus with standardized recipes & special diet orders.
• Prepare & serve residents nutritional bedtime snacks as well as substitute foods for residents who refuse foods served.
• Ensure food, etc., is prepared in accordance with sanitary regulations.
• Ensure the department is maintained in a clean & safe manner by assuring necessary equipment & supplies are maintained.
• Ensure the facility’s standards on Infection Control Precautions are followed when performing daily tasks.
• Perform dishwashing/cleaning procedures assuring that utensils, etc., are readily available for next meal.
• Prepare & deliver food carts and trays to designated areas.
• Serve food and drinks in the dining room.
• Sweeo and mop floors in the kitchen/dish room.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR DIETARY AIDES:

• Some food handling experience
• Basic awareness/knowledge of sanitation practices as it relates to food preparation
• Experience in a long-term care facility preferred
• Compassion and tolerance for older adults
• Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
