Roy Maas Youth Alternatives (RMYA) creates brighter futures for children in crisis by promoting individual success and healthy relationships in a safe, healing environment, giving children and families the tools to end the cycle of abuse. RMYA provides treatment programs for traumatized children who most often are victims of sexual, physical, and/or emotional abuse. RMYA supports using trauma-informed techniques and relationship-based approaches to create a safe environment that provides consistency, structure, and caring for the children we serve.
Job Summary:
The Development Associate will serve the agency as a vital part of the fundraising and marketing team to raise awareness and develop financial resources on behalf of the children served. The position has three (3) primary responsibilities: donor stewardship including maintenance of the CRM, assistance with grant writing, and general administrative support for the RMYA Development department. With a focus on donor stewardship (i.e. cultivation, communication, and acknowledgment), the Development Associate has primary responsibility for management and maintenance of the CRM which captures all donor information. This position will also be responsible for the effective use of the CRM to analyze data, develop targeted donor lists, and provide quantitative information required to achieve development goals. The Development Associate will work closely with the Sr. Director of Development & Marketing to ensure that each RMYA stakeholder feels recognized, appreciated, and seen. In providing general administrative support to the Development department, the Development Associate will assist with marketing materials, quarterly newsletters, and fundraising materials/collateral. Additional administrative support responsibilities include screening and routing incoming department calls, independently resolving donor customer service needs, coordinating gifts or meals, purchasing supplies for specific projects, and providing additional support as needed.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

Donor Management and Administration:*

  • Manage the donor management software to ensure accurate and timely data entry and record maintenance.
  • Manage mailing addresses and emails for mass communications including e-blasts and newsletters that are mailed.
  • Analyze donor data, accurately maintains donor data to ensure records are complete, accurate and timely, and improves initiatives and processes for annual fundraising management
  • Employ accurate gift processing standards, including timely gift entry and donor acknowledgment.
  • Ensures donor data is entered and maintained in a timely and accurate manner, ensuring records are current and complete.
  • Maximize the donor tracking database through the accurate entry of donations, use of advanced reports, and integrated communication options.
  • Liaise with the accounting staff to ensure gifts received are processed and deposited in a timely manner.
  • Manage monthly donation reconciliation with the accounting staff.
  • Assist with editing and writing private grants and requests for proposals for private foundations and corporate grant makers.
  • Assist with prospect research to identify new sources of funding.
  • Assist in the planning and coordination of engagement events, which include but are not limited to, the annual gala, spring event, receptions, and children-focused activities.
  • Attend staff meetings and complete any mandatory certifications, requirements, and evaluations in a timely manner
  • Manages multiple projects and assignments employing prioritization skills and maintaining high quality work product.
  • Composes compelling solicitations, and donor acknowledgments to include In Memory Of & In Honor Of letters.

Required Qualifications:*

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred in business, marketing or non-profit management or related field
  • Experience: Minimum 3 years customer service experience
  • Certification/Licenses: Valid Texas driver’s license or ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire; must have and maintain an acceptable driving record.
  • Competencies:
  • Excellent Organizational skills – performs detailed work with accuracy; plans and prioritizes projects effectively, develops contingency plans.
  • Strong Writing skills – able to use standard business English to compile information and prepare written documents such as grants.

  • Intermediate Computer skills – use information technology and related applications effectively to assist with various projects and maintain the CRM.

  • Physical Requirements: Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Frequent walking, standing, bending, hand and wrist rotation, writing and typing, reaching, twisting, climbing stairs, kneeling, squatting, lifting, and carrying at least 10 pounds, pushing, pulling, and driving. In-person attendance with face shield/mask required.
  • Work Environment: Generally in an office work environment, this role also requires occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays. Shifts in environmental conditions i.e. hot, cold, outdoor, indoor, dry, and humid. Fast-paced work using sensory demands i.e. hearing, vision, speech; dealing with multiple, complex, and repetitive tasks, working under pressure with deadlines, meeting precise standards, attention to detail, and some traveling. May be requested to work overtime and weekends for special program events.

Preferred Qualifications:*

  • Experience: Customer service experience in a non-profit setting preferred. Prior development and grant writing experience preferred.

Work Authorization/Security Clearance Requirements*:
Successful clearance of Department of Family and Protective Services licensing background checks, (to include fingerprinting and drug testing) and maintenance of status providing the ability to be present at an operation

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $45,000.00 per year
