Project Overview:

Bechtel is the licensing, engineering, procurement, and construction partner on TerraPower’s Natrium team. Selected by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) for its Advanced Reactor Demonstration Program, Natrium is participating in a DOE initiative to re-establish U.S. leadership in nuclear energy that provides matching funding to industry to design and build an operational advanced reactor. TerraPower, a leading advanced generation technology company founded by former Microsoft CEO Bill Gates, will be deploying its 345 MWe sodium fast reactor (SFR), called Natrium. The Natrium plant features an advanced, cost-competitive reactor design that is safer, simpler, easier, and less costly to construct, less expensive to operate, and able to provide energy that is competitive with fossil fuels. It also features an innovative molten salt energy storage system designed to be complementary to solar and wind power by evening out the peaks and valleys in production when the sun is not shining, or the wind is not blowing. With the reactor and energy storage output combined, the plant can produce more than 500 MWe of power.

Position Description

This position provides an opprotunity for the right candiadte to gain expereince in nuclear project setup, orgination of nuclear pipe support standards & related span tables.

Essential duties include the locating and designing supports for various piping systems and performing associated calculations. Candidate should be familiar with common pipe support hardware,

industry standards, and relevant codes such as AISC & ASME B31.1. Work closely with layout personnel and pipe stress engineers to deliver a quality and cost-effective design. Coordinate with other

engineering disciplines and vendors as required. Prior experience should include satusing and preparing schedlues work assignments and deliverables.

Prior experience should include Pipe Support Lead Engineer experience as this position will report to the Pipe Stress & Support Supervisor.

Qualifications and Skills

Basic Qualifications:

• Level 1: BS degree in engineering with a minimum of 6 years’ experience.
• Level 2: BS degree in engineering with a minimum of 9 years’ experience.
• Candidate is a US Citizen or have the right to legally work and remain in the United States without sponsorship.
• Must be able to complete a pre-employment drug screen, and background check.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Knowledge of ASME B31.1 and/or B31.3 piping codes.
• Prior experience using a pipe support structural analysis program.

Preferred Qualifications:

• GT Strudl or STAAD frame analysis experience.
• Prior experince using Aveva E3D
• Prior experience modeling pipe supports in a 3D model.
• PE Registration.
• Previous Bechtel project experience.
