We are a non-profit organization running Head Start and comparable state funded early childcare and education programs throughout the state of Oregon. Position Summary:

Under the direction of the Executive Director, the Deputy Director is responsible for ensuring the successful implementation of statewide program operations. Ensures program operations comply with Head Start Performance Standards, Oregon’s Office of Child Care regulations, OCDC’s policies and procedures and other applicable regulations.

Essential Functions:

  • Works with the Regional Operations Managers to plan, organize, and evaluate county program operations. Ensures operational processes, timelines, and deliverables are being met.
  • Establishes and maintains operational systems to ensure services at the county level comply with federal and state regulations, OCDC’s policies, procedures, and other applicable regulations.
  • Proactively identifies internal operational opportunities and challenges and works with the Executive Director and other personnel to address those situations appropriately.
  • Collaborates with departments/service areas to produce efficient operational workflow and processes.
  • Monitors operational budgets to ensure compliance and works with the Executive Director, Regional Operations Managers, Program Directors and fiscal teams on budget forecasting.
  • Identifies strategies to implement Head Start programs and other early childhood education services to unserved areas.
  • In collaboration with the Executive Director, helps to identify additional funding sources for Head Start programs and other early childhood education services.
  • Ensures ongoing program enhancement occurs at the local level to meet the changing needs of the communities served.

Education and Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in public administration, Early Childhood Education, or related field with at least 10 years of work experience in a senior level operations management capacity, preferably in a Head Start, Early Childhood Education and/or in a nonprofit setting.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $85,280.00 - $98,488.00 per year
