Job Description Summary

Performs a variety of clerical, routine administrative duties in the City Clerk’s Office. Work varies requiring interpretive judgement within prescribed standards and procedures.


Job Responsibilities

Assist the City Clerk with the maintenance of official documents and records, including books, papers, codes, deeds, title papers, contracts, judgments, and other records with strong attention to detail; prepare council agenda and meeting minutes; assist with the upkeep of proceedings including ordinances and resolutions; assist with directing the official publication of notices, ordinances; accept communications for the council; create and processes renewals for liquor and tobacco licenses; assist and review applications for street closures; maintain and update complex filing system of records and reports; in the absence of the City Clerk, attend council meetings and serve as custodian of official City records and public documents in accordance with retention and disposition schedules; serve as a notary public; receive and answer correspondence and telephone inquiries with officials of other governmental agencies and city officials; coordinate with other City departments; and perform other duties as assigned.


Minimum Education & Requirements

Any combination of education and experience equivalent to Associate degree in records management, public administration, legal assistant or a closely related field or equivalent with a minimum of two years administrative or government agency experience. Possession of a valid Nebraska Driver’s license.

Climbing/Balancing: Minimal, ability to sit and stand

Walking: Frequent amount required

Stooping/Bending: Occasionally

Stand/Sit: Sit about 75 percent of the time

Reaching: Frequent, overhead as well as horizontal

Vision: Adequate to perform essential job functions

Color Vision: Adequate to perform essential job functions

Hearing: Frequently perceives nature of sounds by ear

Speech: Frequently express ideas by means of spoken words

Eye/Hand/Foot Coordination: Frequently operates equipment requiring moderate ability
