About Our Job
Are you interested in a fun and educational experience working outdoors? Are you looking to start your career in the green/sustainability industry? If so, Denver Parks and Recreation (DPR) has a great opportunity for you!
DPR’s Parks Green Corps was created to provide employment and job skills training opportunities to individuals new to the workforce or those wanting to make a career transition into the green Jobs industry by creating a career development pathway within the field. The program provides on-the-job training for individuals through the implementation of parks projects. The projects will focus on creating resilient parks and landscapes that can withstand the effects of climate change. Green Corps members will engage in projects such as restoring wildlife habitat, planting trees and native plants, cleaning up waterways, managing noxious weeds, and restoring open space.
Ideally, participants will return for two or three seasons, allowing them to build upon skills developed from previous years. This will provide a continued focus on increasing their skill set and help them gain professional development needed for a successful career.
The work schedule is full-time in the summer (June-August) and part-time in the off-season (March-May and Sept-Nov). If you are in school, we will set a schedule that works around your school commitments.
Training is provided - no prior experience necessary. We ask that you come with an open mind and a willingness to learn and work hard. We will provide tools, access to a laptop, and a uniform. You must have reliable transportation to the daily meeting location.

  • Gain foundational skills in parks management, conservation, and restoration practices by working on outdoor projects which requires physical labor and you to be on your feet most of the day

  • Develop project management skills by assisting with project identification, planning and coordination
  • Learn how to operate small gas and electric-powered equipment properly and safely such as backpack blowers, edgers, and string trimmers
  • Assist in leading workdays with contracted youth groups (prepare necessary tools, supplies, materials, etc.)
  • Develop and implement time management, data management, organizational, and business skills
  • Keep track of tools; keep them clean and organized
