SUMMARY: The Dental Clinic Manager is in charge of planning, directing, and coordinating the daily operations of the dental clinic under the supervision of the dental director. The Dental Clinic Manager will understand and model the mission of NSO. The Dental Clinic Manager will understand and practice NSO’s policy on confidentiality in respect to all NSO information. The Dental Clinic Manger will exhibit professional behavior in all facets of work at NSO. The Dental Clinic Manager will exhibit teamwork with all NSO staff.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS


Administrative:

  • Coordinates the activities of the NSO Dental Clinic.
  • Effectively managing the day-to-day operations in the dental clinic - 3 dentists, 3 dental assistants, 2 clinical hygienists, 1 outreach hygienist clinical rotations of 4th year dental students from OUCOD and 1 receptionist
  • Recruiting, hiring and developing office teams
  • Assist Grant writer in writing and reporting to multiple funders.
  • Implement, monitor and evaluate Clinical Outcome Measures, which delineate required and recommended dental services.
  • Serve as a liaison between community dentists and NSO.
  • Serve as the schedule coordinator for OU College of Dentistry externship program and NSO Dental Clinic.
  • Assures that the clinic meets Federal and OSHA standards.
  • Seeks and solicits donations of dental supplies and materials.
  • Provide the community dental health and prevention education events.
  • Supervises support staff and volunteers.
  • Post payments and does collection for dental accounts; reports proper documentation to the Chief Financial Officer.
  • Oversees posting of charges for dental accounts.
  • Requires extensive knowledge of Eaglesoft software.
  • Coordinates equipment maintenance, with various service providers, and staff.
  • Maintain budget.
  • Maintain records of license, permits, and certifications of all dental staff employees.
  • Maintain and obtain up to date knowledge on dental clinic software programs.
  • Serves as HIPAA Security and Privacy Official.
  • Provides annual HIPAA and OSHA training to all dental staff.

Clinical:

  • Manage inventory, equipment, and supplies.
  • Prepare exam rooms and equipment, including infection control measures.
  • Assist dentist chair side.
  • Assist in developing and implementing the patient care plan.
  • Provide patient education, counseling, and referral to appropriate resources under the supervision of a dentist.
  • Expose X-rays
  • Coronal Polishing
  • Fluoride application
  • Placing sealants
  • Assisting in the administration of Nitrous Oxide
  • Maintains confidentiality of patient information.

Miscellaneous Duties:


  • Manage patient flow and scheduling for dentists and hygienists.
  • Prepare and maintain patient charges including patient information handouts and outcome measures.
  • Prepare and maintain clinical progress notes and other records, including filing and billing.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS


Requires completion of training program as a Dental Assistant which includes:

  • Radiation Protection and Safety
  • Coronal Polishing and Topical Fluoride preferred
  • Placement of Pit and Fissure Sealants preferred
  • Assisting in the Administration of Nitrous Oxide preferred

Must possess a valid Healthcare Provider CPR certification.

CDA preferred.

Experience working with the homeless and underserved population preferred.

Three years supervisory experience.

Must have valid driver’s license and auto insurance.

Clearance of background, credit check and drug screen.


SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

  • Hold a current dental assisting license with expanded functions from the Oklahoma Board of Dentistry.

  • Be knowledgeable of laws and rules pertaining to HIPPA and OSHA.
  • Requires knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures. This includes advanced computer skills; such as word processing, database management, electronic mail, spreadsheet, graphics, etc.
  • Knowledge of Eaglesoft software and Schick digital x-ray is required.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • The work requires lifting of supply boxes in the medium range (up to 30 lbs.);
  • Majority of time spent in this position is in a well-lighted, heated and/or air-conditioned indoor office setting with adequate ventilation.
  • Requires exposure to x-ray equipment.
  • May risk exposure to biohazards (ex. Blood and disinfectant chemicals) and communicable diseases.
  • Work is performed walking or standing much of the time.
  • Occasional periods of high stress.
