Zurich North America is looking for a Data Specialist to join our Underwriting University based out of our North American Headquarters in Schaumburg, Illinois. Alternatively, we offer the flexibility for this position to be based anywhere in the country. If you choose to be based out of our Schaumburg headquarters, we are offering the flexibility to work both in the office and remotely. You will collaborate with your manager to set a schedule that supports you, your customers, and the team.

In this Data Specialist role, you will be responsible for specifying and leveraging the value of the data assets within Underwriting University and will facilitate the development and implementation of data-driven solutions by leveraging emerging tools and technologies, while evolving and refining standards and methodologies. In this role you should have the ability to share ideas among a collaborative team.

You will also be asked to:

• 
  Work with Underwriting University’s Measurement, Sustainability, and Technology leadership to support enterprise-wide learning systems selection and implementation
• Partner with the Learning Measurement Lead to establish and execute learning measurement processes for all pertinent Underwriting University programs
• Team with internal staff and external vendors to ensure data connectivity, transfer, security, and integrity.

This position will be filled as a Data Specialist or Data Consultant depending on the selected candidate’s qualifications and as determined by the hiring manager.

Basic Qualifications – Data Specialist:

• 
  Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Mathematics/Statistics and 3 or more years of experience in the area
  AND
• Relevant STEM degree required or equivalent experience
• 1 or more years of experience in Enterprise Data Engineering using Hadoop technologies
• Fluency in scripting language (Shell / Perl / Python / Java / etc.) required
• Knowledge of industry standards and trends
• Experience as a SQL Developer
• Experience in data interrogation and data profiling

Basic Qualifications – Data Consultant:

• 
  Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Mathematics/Statistics and 6 or more years of experience in the Data Engineering area
  OR
• High School Diploma or Equivalent and 8 or more years of experience in the Data Engineering area
  OR
• Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree in Computer Science or Mathematics/Statistics and 6 or more years of experience in the Data Engineering area
  AND
• 5 or more of experience in Enterprise Data Engineering
• Experience in scripting languages
• Experience with data transformation and aggregation tools
• Experience in data analysis, data interrogation or data profiling

Preferred Qualifications

• 
  Experience optimizing data for transfer via various APIs
• Experience in scripting language (Shell / Perl / Python / Java / etc.)
• Experience with xAPI, SCORM, AICC
• Experience with Power BI
• Experience with learning technology (LMS, LCMS, microlearning, VR, simulations)
