UTHealth Houston School of Public Health invites applications to fill one non-tenure track research faculty position at the Assistant Professor level on the Houston Campus located in the Texas Medical Center. This position is in the Department of Biostatistics and Data Science.
Position Key Accountabilities:
The position will be primarily responsible for the Texas Epidemic Public Health Institute (TEPHI) Wastewater Consortium (TWC), a growing network of epidemiologists, statisticians, molecular scientists, and public health experts tasked with establishing a statewide system to monitor and respond to pathogens of pandemic potential (PPPs). This position will be housed in the newly established Center for Spatial-temporal Modeling of Applications in Population Sciences (CSMAPS) where the center focuses on developing and applying novel spatial-temporal models to understand population health outcomes. It is also possible for this position to develop teaching skills and teach statistics courses.

Qualifications:
A Ph.D. degree in biostatistics, statistics, or related disciplines is required. Research experience with spatial and spatial-temporal modeling is required. Applicants must demonstrate exceptional communication skills and experience working in a collaboration and consulting service environment in academia, industry, or government. Strong statistical programming skills (including R, Python, etc.), and excellent oral and written communication skills are required.
Preferences:
Preference will be given to candidates with collaboration experience in clinical, observational, and basic biomedical science studies, including experience in study design, data analysis, and drafting data analysis reports and peer-reviewed publications. Experience in promoting biostatistics collaboration and services among biomedical and health science investigators is a plus.
