Salary Range: $65K to $95K

The IT Data Engineer reports to the Director of Data Management. The primary responsibility is to provide comprehensive solutions that promote the dependable availability of MAA data assets. The development and administration of data hosting and data integration systems will be the focal point of this role. Influencing MAA data strategy by providing technical counsel and guidance on data management and architecture is expected.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develops and administers batch, near-real time, and real time integration processes for data management
  • Develops and administers centralized data host environments
  • Works across technology platforms, architectures and infrastructures
  • Proactively monitors data environments and processes for data quality, data health, and data availability
  • Troubleshoots and resolves disruptions in enterprise data services\systems impacting developed database objects, stored procedures, SQL statements, and ETL processes.Collaborates with infrastructure team as needed.
  • Participates in peer-reviews for the quality and standardization of development work. Obtains validation of any development contributions to ensure quality and standards are met prior to being promoted to Production environments.
  • Partners with business to balance the provision of data services with the protection of the enterprise data asset
  • Builds working relationships that promote the evolution of data stewardship at MAA
  • Monitors technology trends and maintains professional and technical competencies
  • Performs other related duties as assigned to meet the needs of the business.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, computer science, mathematics, or related field and 3-5 years of data management development experience required, or equivalent combination of education and work experience required.
  • SQL development, tuning, and administration experience required
  • SQL Server Database Platform experience within a Microsoft Data Management and Warehousing environment required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Data modeling experience strongly preferred
  • Data management expertise (ingestion, integration, hosting, warehousing, archiving and availability) preferred
  • Microsoft integration technology expertise (e.g., SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), SQL Server Replication, Change Data Capture (CDC), Change Tracking) preferred
  • SQL Server Analytics Services (SSAS), SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), PowerBI and Azure Cloud technology experience preferred
  • Previous experience within the real estate industry preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Extensive knowledge of Structured Query Language (SQL) development, specifically tSQL and Microsoft SQL Server environment.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in hosting and integration development for a centralized enterprise data environment.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft data analytic environments: SQL Server Analytics Services (SSAS), and SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), PowerBI and Azure Cloud technologies
  • Knowledge of data warehouse modeling concepts
  • Knowledge of state-based development life-cycle in a shared development environment
  • Skill in identifying problems and applying potential solutions
  • Skill in customer service orientation and written, verbal and interpersonal communication
  • Skill in maintaining confidentiality and appropriate discretion
