Where the Chemistry Happens

As a chemicals supplier to almost all industries, BASF will establish a standalone subsidiary dedicated to its Mobile Emissions Catalysts, Precious Metals Trading, Recycling, and related Products and Services business. The new group is referred to as BASF Environmental Catalyst and Metal Solutions and is wholly owned by BASF. BASF Environmental Catalyst and Metal Solutions will operate globally in over 15 countries and comprise of approximately 20 production sites and over 4,000 employees.

As a Customs and Foreign Trade Manager you create chemistry by…

    Owning the relationships with LLP(s) / 3PL(s), develop and maximize their value through intensive collaboration, supplier reviews, and metric-based improvements in the areas of Import / Export Operations and Transportation Planning & Execution Managing, directing, coordinating, and conducting analysis of all products subject to the Free Trade Agreements (FTA) to which the U.S. and Canada are parties and maintains data and documentation required by these FTAs. Classifying goods and their component materials with appropriate HTS numbers according to the requirements of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) respectively Administering US Customs & Border Protection supply chain security programs, Customs- Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT) and Importer Security Filing (ISF), and monitors Antidumping (AD) and Countervailing Duty (CVD) activity that affects BASF Identifying each prospective importation, coordinates / communicates with customs broker to ensure proper declaration and timely release of goods without the imposition of financial penalty Managing the duty drawback program and other customs refunds to maximize BASF eligible benefits Maintaining records of all entries subject to reconciliation with applicable timelines. Communicates with service providers, US CBP / Treasury, and internal business partners to ensure timely and complete reconciliations Conducting routine audits of customs activities to ensure compliance Develops and implements customs compliance program to ensure compliance and meet Customs expectations for importers.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Your formula for success…

    Bachelor's degree in Business, Logistics, Procurement or related discipline 5 year’s experience with import / export operations and transport management required 5 year’s experience working with U.S. Customs and other government regulatory agencies required Knowledge of U.S. Customs regulations, tariff classification, Free Trade Agreements, U.S. export controls regime (BIS, OFAC and ITAR) Advanced knowledge of automated systems preferred (SAP, ABI, ACE, various internet websites) Intermediate skills using Microsoft Excel (i.e., working with pivot tables and formulas) Excellent communication skills (i.e., effective email composition) Excellent analytical and time management skills Able to make timely decisions based on relevant information Experience with 3rd party vendor management desired Chemical and/or Manufacturing experience preferred
