Position Details

The Crisis Stabilization Residential Youth Advocate is responsible for assisting in the coordination of residential services and providing professional treatment and trauma-informed care to children and youth residing in the Crisis Stabilization Residential unit. The Crisis Stabilization Residential Youth Advocate ensures the safety and security of the children and youth at all times and assists them in the performance of regular daily activities, including bed making, personal hygiene, room cleaning, and all other chores normally expected of children and youth their ages. The Crisis Stabilization Residential Youth Advocate provides a caring, warm, consistent environment for the children through setting clear boundaries, supporting, encouraging, and giving verbal praise and acknowledgment for positive actions and decisions to help build self-esteem, age-appropriate interpersonal skills, positive thinking, problem-solving, coping skills, respect for others and self and brainstorming alternative, appropriate behaviors, etc. The Crisis Stabilization Residential Youth Advocate will complete accurate and timely documentation as required, provide direct care coverage, and participate in an on-call schedule. The Crisis Stabilization Residential Youth Advocate will participate in Crisis Stabilization staff on-call rotation and report for assigned on-call shifts when called upon. This position will need to have a flexible schedule that may include working some nights, weekends, and holidays.


Position Specifics

  • Position Hours: 36-hour work week from 8:00am-8:00pm with occasional on-call shifts - Weekends, weekends & holidays required
  • Flexibility for occasional 2nd shifts from 10:00am-10:00pm

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Financial

  • Meets or exceeds budgeted financial expectations for the program.
  • Will seek prior approval and work with the direct supervisor for any purchases that need to be made.
  • Submit all receipts within 24 hours of purchase.
  • Provides timesheet documentation for all funding sources related to the position.

Operations

  • Operate from the Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS).
  • Provide consistent, individualized reinforcement to children or youths' behavior, using daily issues to teach and reinforce adaptive behaviors.
  • Utilize a proactive/preventive method of intercepting problems to neutralize them before they escalate.
  • Strategically utilize identified behavior management techniques and other de-escalation training to assist children and youth in developing appropriate behaviors.
  • Assist children and youth in developing insight into their behaviors to learn to self-identify and self-correct.
  • Understand the impact of children and youths' behaviors on their own actions/reactions in the workplace and utilizes team feedback to enhance the effectiveness of their interventions.
  • Know the population and is aware of and implement the individualized treatment plan of each client.
  • Provide daily living supervision and treatment intervention.
  • Establish a therapeutic relationship with the client based on trust and respect.
  • Evaluate the impact of behavioral, group treatment, and life-space interventions and provides direction/feedback.
  • Assure consistent, ongoing, and timely provision for basic children and youth needs.
  • Follow medication management guidelines and delivery.
  • Effectively participate in a team to review case progress and provide the best programming.
  • Maintain good team participation and interaction.
  • Maintain positive role modeling and perform as an agent of change for the children and youth.
  • Develop and maintain a working knowledge of Behavior Health Intervention Services (BHIS) and Medicaid requirements and standards.
  • Deliver BHIS as assigned and in a manner compliant with applicable State, Federal, Accreditation, and agency standards and achieve weekly per diem. It is required that BHIS be completed during the second shift every day and on both the first and second shifts when clients are not in school. All staff is required to ensure BHIS is provided as required on scheduled shifts.
  • Complete TCI training and utilize appropriate de-escalation and TCI interventions as needed to support client safety, including as a last resort utilizing restraints as trained in TCI.
  • Complete all documentation of services in a timely manner within 72 hours of service and complete daily case notes, behavior management, visual checks, etc before the end of the scheduled shift.
  • Provide sound judgment and demonstrate the ability to make effective decisions and implement procedures based on decisions made.
  • Possess patience, optimism, enthusiasm, some amount of charm, and discretion.
  • Provide trauma-informed services in a client-centered, strengths-based, professional manner.
  • Arrive consistently and on time for assigned shifts. Meet expectations for the use of leave, professional presentation, and responsibility for specific tasks.
  • Remain awake and alert at all times. Provide ongoing supervision of residents by ensuring visual check guidelines are followed (complete room checks a minimum of every 15 minutes or more frequently as the needs of youth may require until midnight. After midnight, visual checks are required to be completed at a minimum of every half hour.)
  • Participate in the on-call rotation and report for assigned on-call shifts when called upon.
  • Maintain a safe, clean work environment including the use of good body mechanics, universal precautions, and personal protective equipment as necessary.
  • Ensure facilities are clean and well maintained. Tasks include but are not limited to the following: sweep and mop floors, dust, clean offices, collect and remove waste, clean refrigerators/cupboards, clean restrooms and replenish supplies, and wash walls/windows
  • Maintain agency property/equipment. Request supplies and repairs as necessary.
  • Attend, facilitate, and participate in mandatory agency training and meetings.
  • Ensure personnel procedures and practices are implemented and followed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Client/External

  • Serves as a public face of the Agency by interfacing with regulatory, community, and funder leadership.
  • Ensures that communication with outside parties is coordinated and effectively builds positive relationships.
  • Safely transports the youth to/from program activities and community resources monitoring behaviors and following agency transportation protocols is able to transport.
  • Understands the impact of youths' behaviors on their own actions/reactions in the workplace and utilizes team feedback to enhance the effectiveness of their interventions.
  • Knows the population and is aware of and implements the individualized treatment plan of each client.
  • Provides daily living supervision and treatment intervention.
  • Strategically utilizes identified behavior management techniques and other de-escalation training to assist youths in developing appropriate behaviors.
  • Provide transportation to appointments if able to transport.

People

  • Participates in, at minimum, twice monthly individual supervisions with a direct supervisor.
  • Creates positive, inclusive, safe, client-led, and outcome-oriented culture.
  • Serves as a public face of the Agency by interfacing with regulatory, community, and funder leadership.
  • Ensures that communication with outside parties is coordinated and effectively builds positive relationships
  • Be knowledgeable of the population served and help the team implement individualized treatment plans.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and share necessary information to ensure all providers and supports understand and align with trauma-informed interventions to accomplish critical goals.
  • Review and monitor components of care within the treatment plan and identifies when changes in care approaches are needed.


Qualifications

  • Must be at least 21 years old, high school diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor's degree in human service and experience preferred.
  • Valid driver's license, in good standing, and vehicle with appropriate auto insurance, are required. Must be able to pass the motor vehicle record background check.


Must have current proof of car insurance, able to pass a driving background check, and have reliable transportation.
