Position Summary: Provide quality therapeutic interventions to youth. Participate in a team of crisis counselors that answer calls, text and emails and provide support for youth and families in person within their school/home/community. Connect people with YBGR or other agency services to create a continuum of mental-health support.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide quality crisis and behavioral interventions to youth in the school/home/community settings; including face to face and/or telehealth via YBGR approved telehealth systems.
  • Intervene in crisis in a calm appropriate manner that maintains staff and youth safety. Establish youth self-regulation plans and complete high-risk assessments.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with treatment team members, school administration, school personnel, and stakeholders. Engage in regular communication through attendance and participation at treatment team and staff meetings.
  • Provide appropriate referrals, helping to initiate admissions into mental health programming, and connecting with clinicians and/or supports through other agencies.
  • Update resources in the YBGR Connect library including training resources, contact information, etc.
  • Contribute to the strategic goals and outcomes of the agency as measured by the development and achievement of individual, departmental, and organizational goals and outcomes. Participate in Performance Quality Improvement (PQI) goals of the organization both individually and as a team member.
  • Participate in the CBS Emergency On-Call rotation, which may include in person response.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Education:
    • Required: High School Diploma or GED Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services, Social Work, or a related field.
  • Previous Professional Experience:
    • Required for High School Diploma or GED – Two (2) years of professional experience providing direct services to emotionally disturbed youth. Preferred for Bachelor’s Degree: One (1) year of professional experience providing direct services to emotionally disturbed youth.
    • Previous role in a similar position such as school, community organization, etc. is preferable
  • License and/or Certification:
    • License to operate passenger vehicle
  • Competencies or Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA’s):
    • Demonstrate strong interpersonal and customer service skills with ability to engage a diverse group of participants.
    • Demonstrate the ability to effectively manage multiple tasks concurrently.
    • Ability to exercise and model good judgment, teamwork and professionalism, especially in crisis situations and creative about finding solutions for them.
    • Use of computer and ability to quickly learn and use YBGR selected software solutions.
  • Criminal / Child Abuse Clearance: Must pass criminal record and child abuse registry background check as required by the State of Montana.
