GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position is part-time, 20 hours per week.

The Credible Messenger will hold a caseload of three to four youth and families and provide intensive mentoring, facilitate skill building lessons, empowering families and providing advocacy. Individualized contacts will be made with youth and families in their home and communities. Contact frequency will be based on youth and family need. Minimum number of contacts will be seven hours per week. Contacts can range as high as 20 hours per week. Credible Messengers will maintain regular communication with Probation Officers, complete individual service plans, monthly reports, progress notes and discharge summary. Credible Messengers participate in 24hour on call duties.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

• Must be 21 years if age and have a valid Driver’s License.
• High School Diploma or GED is the minimal education requirement.
• From the Waterbury area and have relevant experiences to offer Justice involved youth.
• Skilled in advocacy, and crisis intervention
• Ability to function independently and work a flexible schedule.
• Personal Effectiveness/Credibility
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus
• Communication Proficiency
• Collaboration Skills
