Reporting to the Sr. Computer Specialist in charge of the Creative Studios, the Creative Studios Assistant is responsible for assisting the Sr. Specialist in overseeing the daily operations of the Library’s Edmon Low Creative Studios, including the circulation and maintenance of the Library’s collection of Tech to Go items.

This position is also responsible for working with the Sr. Specalist to maintain and troubleshoot the Studio’s Tech to Go items, 3D Technology and in-house hardware and software.

The Assistant will coordinate and provide individual and group training on the technology and software available in the Studios and help to supervise student assistants and interns working in this unit.

This is a part-time position working 25 hours per week.

Lifting requirement to be determined by department.

Dust and mold on books.

Position Qualifications:


Required Qualifications:

HS/GED plus two years post-secondary education and two years related experience or HS/GED and four years of related experience.

Proven customer service or other public service experience.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a strong commitment to public service.

Ability to work under deadlines in a fast-paced, constantly evolving workplace.

Demonstrated ability to multi-task while prioritizing daily responsibilities.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree.

Supervisory experience. Library experience. Teaching or training experience, especially in a college setting.

Knowledge of 3D printers and 3D printing software programs such as Blender, Makerbot Print, Cura or GrabCAD. Experience working with multimedia software applications such as Adobe Creative Suite, Audacity, and Camtasia.

Experience working with and/or troubleshooting a variety of multimedia technology devices such as audio/video recording devices, 3D Printers, 3D Scanners, personal computers (Windows, Mac, and Tablet), printers, virtual reality systems, heritage arts (sewing machines, textiles etc.) telescopy, microscopy, fight simulation, and studio lighting.
