Crane Field Service Technician/Mechanic Position Purpose

To perform diagnostic and repair work on construction equipment in the field. This person may be a specialist in certain types of equipment. He or she is dispatched through the service office and normally performs work with little supervision.

Crane Field Service Technician/Mechanic Responsibilities

  • Diagnose & evaluate problems with equipment and make repairs using established guidelines in accordance with established flat rates
  • Notify the manager of any additional work required on the unit
  • Model safe work habits and abide by all safety policies and procedures at all times
  • Keep rework within established guidelines
  • Work effectively without close supervision
  • Complete required paperwork efficiently and timely
  • Attend factory and other training as specified by the supervisor
  • Exhibit a professional demeanor at all times with customers, managers, and colleagues
  • Maintain service truck- keeping it in good working condition and clean
  • Make overnight stays on or near job sites when necessary
  • Perform other assignments as requested by the manager

Crane Field Service Technician/Mechanic Qualifications

  • High School Education or equivalent
  • Two years of continuous experience in diagnosing and repairing cranes
  • Ability to read complex hydraulic and electrical schematics
  • Furnish and maintain a set of hand tools and any special tools required by the company
  • Maintain valid driver’s license; CDL if required
